Yep normally get 29/30mpg on my commute to work and this cold weather has dropped it to 26.5mpg

Watching this thread to see if it is the oil. I suspect the recent oil change on my FN2 is the reason its only doing 23mpg. Running 5w40 semi. I think it might prefer 0w30 FS.

Actually, wasn't there another thread about this type of engine where a guy had done big miles in a short period of time and it was knackered?
on the older 1.0 ecoboost and it wasn't low MPG it literally went bang. Coolant hose fail leading to catastrophic engine failure.

Sorry for the late update.

Ford checked the car over and reported no hesitation on a test drive and an under the bonnet check revealed nothing out of place.

However, literally immediately after picking the car up the hesitation from cold has gone completely.

My personal view is that they've fixed something and not told us. It is too much of a coincidence that the hesitation was there, and then like magic it's fixed after a morning at the dealers.

With regards to the mpg my wife's commute has now changed so it's hard to say if there's been any change on that front.

you have earned yourself 1 tinfoil point

i've never met a mechanic who would fix something then pretend he didn't

far more common to have the exact opposite problem

You are quite deluded then.

Garages regulaly feck stuff up and fix them with the customer never knowing what the actual cause was!
