We're going real racing with ours and a customer of ours will be racing alongside us.

For those who will be attending the 24 Hours of Nurburgring next May do come by and say hello.

Should any of you be at the Geneva Auto show same goes. We'll be debuting our race and road version.

SRO know their market. Trust me. They started with the Lamborghini one make series, through BPR, and many other successful series.
Quite. Many of the bronze drivers in BSS or BES will have examples of these and will doubtless be delighted to give them a run over a race weekend.

Baaah, I could still make all of these cars "indicate right" in my Clio Trophy on the right track!*

  • "right track" at this time include Sandown Park Kart Circuit, Bayford Meadows Kart Circuit, Rye House Kart Circuit and Reading Indoor Kart Centre. And I need a head start.

We are not invited to this event, neither the Radical's owners. Then you should remove the "the world's fastest cars" and replace it by "the world's most expensive cars"!

This event is about wealth.

Seems like a great event.

Hahaha, this event is hilarious!

Of course they couldn't let Radicals/Ultimas in. If they did, maybe "poor" people who built their car in their back garden themselves, wearing oily jeans and beaten up trainers would turn up in their Radicals and make them all look like fools when they get tanked round the track.

This event is all about a good ego rub to make rich people feel important about themselves. It's just going to be like London in the summer, a bunch of rich idiots turning up, revving their car for the crowd, feeling damn good about themselves that they are getting soooo much attention. All image, no substance.

They're paying to force a crowd that aren't there to see them sit and watch them for 2 hours over a weekend. They're track fillers really, kill time between the real races and it makes rich people feel important as they do it.

I'd imagine anyone that owns these sorts of cars that actually wanted to drive it would be at a real trackday as noted in the article run by Porshce/Ferrari etc. wth real length sessions, instructors etc. You wouldn't travel all that way for 2 hours worth of track time. You'd only go because there is a crowd to look at you while you do it.

Rich people are funny creatures!

Jealous much?

Just because the event is being marketed, doesn't mean the owners of the cars have huge egos.

However, it does sound very much like just a track day .

Title should read "Hypercars not to go racing"?
Indeed, very misleading headline.
I think "Hypercars: NO F**KING RACING!" would be a good'un.

I imagine the event is being put forward by Ratel because a large proportion of the owners of these cars are already at these race meetings, and they want to drive their hyper cars as well as their GT3 race cars. Remember the core customer for Blancpain GT racing is the Gentlemen drivers, not the public spectators, the event is for them, and because of that they probably don't care too much of the opinions of anyone but the owners of the hyper cars.

Actually, that's a good point. I worked in the Aston Martin Owner's Club GT4 Challenge for a couple of years, and there were always plenty of modern supercars knocking around the car parks, most belonging to drivers. I imagine in the more rarefied atmosphere of gentleman GT3 drivers, there are some who also have cars that'd make the cut for this event.

Neat idea.

Exactly...

There would be no such thing as 'Pro' drivers if it wasn't for rich people blowing their money on racing.

Ah, nice one! I worked as a data engineer for Stratton Motor Company, who used to run anywhere between 3 and 6 cars in the GT4 Challenge. Did things like fuel/pit strategy and coached the amateur drivers from telemetry/in car video. We had an old V8 Vantage (christened "The bh" by the mechanics, it was a bloody nightmare) I think ran in Intermarque on occasion, along with a few of the modern Vantages. What do you race?

Don't Vmax 200 do a similiar thing? Sounds like good fun though.
