RE: Datsun 240Z(s): Time For Tea?

I'm old enough to remember these when they were current, and to have driven one, and always felt they seemed a bit of a heavyweight bruiser compared to, say, a 3.0 Capri
I might be mistaken, but does the engine in restored car sound very 'top-end rattly' ?
Notwithstanding that, lovely cars, well done guys.

Lighter and more sophisticated than a 3.0 Capri.Did you drive a dud?
To be fair, a 3.0 Capri felt heavy compared to my Escort.
At the time, 'Big Sam' was still alive and kicking in my memory, and what a car THAT was.

A 240Z was pretty much the same weight as an early Capri - both would have felt heavier than an XR3 - at least 150 - 200 heavier
Most market 240Zs would have been around 50kg or so lighter than a 3.0 Capri by my reckoning, but the Z would be giving away 600cc in capacity of course.PZR said:

Ref the "feel" of the Petrolicious vid, I can see what you mean
The U.S. 240Z Video looks a higher production quality

Yes...That's the Ratsun before....Not a spot of rust anywhere but the paintwork was typical of a US paint job and it merely flicked off in lumps and that's what was underneath.
I would call it a Mocksun than Ratsun. This is the Z that inspired things 5 years ago
The aspect that I enjoyed with the car above is that the wear/tear/sun baked paint and the burnt smoke from the cutting of the rear arches were all due the Californian environment and the lack of budget of the guy doing it.
You have the budget, but you roughed it up to make it rustic, worn and aged in the same way as another Mockney.
Love it.

I've just watched it again and it does seem a bit noisy from the top end compared to how I remember themI might be mistaken, but does the engine in restored car sound very 'top-end rattly' ?

Maybe it's just the speaker/sound recording though?
