Kia Picanto - anything better for my grandmother?
Discussion
I've got a 64 plate Jazz at the moment as a courtesy car and i'm not massively impressed, the ride for example is shocking. Had a look on Autotrader last night and shockingly it's a £13k car! It's an SI with low profile alloys which probably doesn't help with the ride issues. Engine is perky enough though and it seems reasonably well put together. Managed 57mpg indicated on the computer on a 60 mile motorway/a road drive last night at 60 with the cruise control set.
Thanks alot for all the input guys, just what I was looking for.
She won't be anywhere near the 100k in the time she owns it, so that swings it towards the Kia but I'll push her to test drive everything in the class that fits the requirements.
I'm sure she could be persuaded to go nearly new but I think it's a bit of a present to herself so nice new and shiny is desirable.
Thanks again.

Kia Soul is worth a look too
The Soul has quite a cill inside the door step that can be hard getting your leg over if you are elderly or have mobility problems. The boot also has quite a cill drop as well.
After my mum retired, I went car shopping with her - looked at Picantos, i10's Pandas and C1's. The i10 won out purely on value alone, but was also the one she liked the best, even the base-spec model, which has leccy windows, A/C and iPod/phone connectivity. Dealer offered a 5-year servicing/MOT pack as well, which she took. Car was a fiver under 7k on the road, brand new (not pre-registered!) Not sure what the premium is on an auto though...

also think the KIA is better looking than the others. She won't be anywhere near the 100k in the time she owns it, so that swings it towards the Kia but I'll push her to test drive everything in the class that fits the requirements.
