Selling private plate question.

Evening.
I'm selling the private plate from my old car, but one question, What do I have to do to transfer ownership?

Is it just a case of filling in the nominee section on the retention form and then sending it off to the DVLA, or do I send the retention form to the buyer and they fill the nominee part in and take it to the DVLA office. As always their website is as clear as mud on the subject.

You nominate & send appropriate fee, with form, to DVLA. IIRC.

No idea how long it will,take to come back but I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer that bit

Thought that would be the case. Seems to make more sense.
