From 1981 tot 1986 the 635 was succesfull in racing. After that the M3 took its place and was a more purposefull built racer.
I can only imagine a race prepped M3 to be more up to the task than the heavier 635, with almost the same power. Cecotto M3s boast 265 brake and go pretty well.
