Slow news day?
This article was pointless. It told me everything I had already read, yesterday. And it was titled, 'Aston Martin DB10 details.' A baffling title considering that the majority of the article is composed from speculation and a heavy smattering of references to past models.
Re-reporting is not journalism fellas.

Re-body a decade old model? Check. Illogical naming strategy? Check. Must be an "all new" Aston Martin.

The front is doing a Lagonda now, is it? With that simple cut out grille it just looks bland. Could be a Toyota or whatever. I want the swoopy, shapely Aston grille, something more tactile. The rest looks cool though.

On a slight tangent from the DB10 itself, I do not understand the logic of making an Aston specifically for a Bond film. I totally get why Aston wish to be involved with Bond but surely they get better exposure by featuring a car that can actually be bought? Only 10 are being made for the film I read.... and let's face it, if an agent wants to remain secret he is not going to drive around in a one-off bespoke prototype (which kind of justifies the Mondeo product placement in Casino Royale...)

At best I guess this is "brand awareness" or "profile" or whatever the marketing speak is, but I don't get how Aston will sell more cars through it - they may as well build Bond a Batmobile; unless they productionise the DB10 a Batmobile with an Aston badge is about as relevant. soapbox

Poor Marek. Aston are damned if they do, damned if they don't styling wise. Evolution? Response: Boring same old same old repeat ad-nauseous. New design direction? Stolen from every other Mazda/Ferrari/jag/lada/preferred the old look. Sigh.

The f-type stole the look (not operation) of Aston's pop-out door handles
The front is a bit weak... but growing on me now I see the speedster-dna
The interior needs to be highly innovative. Combine vanquish haptic controls with new TT virtual dash!!
Oh and the alloys are probably the best looking wheels I've ever seen (after mine of course ;-)

(Grr. If it's upside down just stand on your head. After 3 upload tries I give up!)

Would say you have not done your homework properly.

The F-type derriere is a direct inspirational copy of the V12V Zag IMO. Check your launch dates......

Given the Zagato was unveiled in May 2011 and the C-X16 in September 2011, I doubt they had much chance to copy it.

Well either-way, back then or now...it proves my argument doesn't it?

Erm, no. Unless you go by a creationist's definition of proof.

Argument across the thread is that AML have copied Jag F-Type.

My premise is the Zag was out before the Jag F.
Your premise is that you agree the Zag was out first but too near together for Jag to copy the Zag.

Ergo, AML did not copy the Jag rear.

For the record, I didn't say they copied it, just that it looks like it.

As the various pictures show, there are only so many ways to draw a big, front engined, rwd coupe.

As someone else posted, its probably based on a Merc anyway. Or it could be made of scaffolding with a fancy body on the top like most movie cars.

Nothing about this on the AM website. This smacks of a cock-up.

Bizarre way to launch the car.

They let an airline launch the Lagonda with an iPhone, and now this?

Am I the only person who thinks that most manufacturers would kill to link a launch to a new James Bond film? It strikes me as a bloody awesome way to introduce a new car.

I agree - except apparently it is not launching the DB10 - it is bespoke for the film... and only 10 are being made. Probably scaffold underpinnings as someone said driving

Quite- "launch" is an inaccurate term on reflection- but James Bond related PR is undoubtedly very cost-effective for Aston Martin. In fact, without James Bond there's a good chance Aston Martin might not currently exist.

When I wrote that, I thought (wrongly) that it was the actual launch of the actual production DB10, with no supporting activity on their website and without the world's motoring press present. Which would be crazy.

In the event, the Aston Martin website did catch up, a few hours late...

I'd agree the James Bond link is a good one, but if you've got the world's coolest dude driving a car of yours, why wouldn't you have him driving one you can actually then sell in the thousands?

(I think this IS actually the production DB10 (near as dammit). I don't think they'd use the name if it wasn't)
