Just watched the online announcement of the new Bond film ("Spectre" apparently) and out of the blue the director whips the covers off what is potentially a new Aston model, allegedly a collaboration between the producers and AM, which he referred to as the DB10. Is this the DB9's replacement?

Seems to have a familiar One-77-esque side profile, a very F-Type rear and a new style front:

Finally a real update to the shape.

Looks both notably different, and still very good. Not easy.

That looks more of an evolution of the AM V8 than a DB model?

Looks like an F-Type with a wider rear track.

That is hand-bitingly pretty.

I may have just had a trouser moment.

Definitely, but still evolution rather than revolution. Different enough to count, though.

Some of the recent models (and car design overall in the last couple of years) has been too 'overstyled' for my tastes with too many creases and whatnot; that is nice and clean, back to what made Astons pretty to begin with.

Hmm, I don't particularly like it. The metalwork is too high and the glass-house too low, which makes it look awkward and bloated from the side.

I can see what you mean. I imagine it'll be pretty claustrophobic inside, and you'll have no chance of resting your elbow on the window sill.

That picture of the F-Type rear 3/4 is pretty startling. They are VERY similar.

Nothing about this on the AM website. This smacks of a cock-up.

Bizarre way to launch the car.

They let an airline launch the Lagonda with an iPhone, and now this?

That's breath-taking. Good to see something so strong from Aston.

Agree. The detail on the front wing, the crease towards the door and even the door handle itself has a definite resemblance, let alone the rear end...

A visit to Autoexpress (ye gads) reveals it isn't the replacement to DB9 at all.

But it might be.

Huh?

Messy.

Which may indicate it isn't a new model and only exists for the Bond film.

Agree that it's odd that AM don't have any info on their site, but there was a camera operator positioned next to the car ready to take the shots that I screengrabbed, which suggests it was deliberate. Unless Sam Mendes wasn't meant to take the cover off of course.
