I know they are sometimes advertised for around 10 grand, but I don't think they actually sell for that sort of money - Most of the completed eBay listings that seem to be changing hands for 5-6k?
I've often struggled to believe they sell for anything like the advertised prices. The market for a decade old, relatively slow, very thirsty, orphaned car of highly dubious image is a minuscule one. I suspect the £10k adverts are a result of the echo chamber of owners forums. I keep thinking I'd like one, but I am also sure I'd feel bitter about my 18mpg ever time a BMW 330d made a mockery of my performance car.

Well said. So long as you're not posting stuff that is ridiculously out of budget, I don't see the problem.

Keep on sharing your eBay finds.
Thank you mate. smile

As you have stated you know the cars which are going to be way over the budget.

Thanks again smile

Looks like a potential money pit, that 'un. "A few bubbles under the paint surface" translates to "Likely to turn into a pile of dust well before Christmas" to me.

They can be a money pit, doesn't look to bad in the photos few different shades of green but doesn't look to rusty. Standing in front of it might be a different story. I have always loved this style of SL. This one looks nice

For some reason I always assumed they'd be much more expensive than that, very pretty cars

Yeah, complete nightmare and thats just for one repair to an almost impossible to get at/visualise, the bulk head!

Reckon its a £5K repair if done properly!

Perfect quirky short range commuter toy and pop-up-lights FTW.
So much want for that car. My parents had a succession of 480's when I'd just passed my test. Dad had a black turbo, then mum had a purple 2.0 n/a. I seem to remember a white turbo too, but that didn't stay in the fleet long.
Some great cars posted lately.
Liking that one, hatchback run around thats pretty nippy and funky.
And agree the clincher is popups "FTW" laugh

headlight motors are unobtainable new - too many Ferrari 456 owners buying them as spares

that early model Colt Starion is superb I cant believe its survived like that as most of the early ones rusted away really quickly - would love to have space for that in the back of my garage. They felt seriously quick when they came out in 1982, 177 bhp was a lot back then.

If you need an estate for short-mid range journeys you could do a lot worse than that, wow.
