Inspired by W00DY's post of an 800 Vitesse on t'other thread I had a bit of a scout around on eBay for a Tomcat Turbo. Nothing half-decent turned up but this VVC one looks rather nice. Just don't mention head gaskets

Never had any issues with mine in the handling department. I knew they had a bit of a reputation for the backside stepping out if chucked into a corner, though I've never encountered it personally. Might have something do with my driving style mind (smoothly turning the wheel through the bend rather than chucking it in and praying, usually works out being the faster approach as well).

Head Gaskets? yep done mine, twice, albeit the second time was our own fault for not tightening the bolts anywhere near enough (fitted the ML head gasket the second time around).

Just posted this in its own thread over in the classics section, but for anyone feeling brave here's what has to be the roughest W124 on the road (still MOTd for a short while!)

Currently at £0 with no bids - https://revmatch.me/2016/09/28/only-for-the-brave-...

Had one in 2012 albeit not a VVC, £300 with 3weeks mot but an uprated head gasket kit fitted, it went through the mot for £30 plus the mot fee. I'd always wanted a coupe after having shedded in a 216sli hatch 6years before. I was disappointed. The ride was awful. Sold it after a few months. £675.

Edit: just checked and it's just got another 12months ticket so it lives on

I've always loved them. Someone I used to know - lost touch a bit nowadays - had an immaculate FDH one which we hammered around the Dales on an awesome road trip. Probably some rose tinted spectacles going on, but if I found an immaculate Turbo I'd find it hard to resist.

Mate of mine had a 216 Coupe for quite a few years. He liked it.

That really only affected the 2.0i turbo, not the 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 n/a cars

If true (the 2ltrT was the one I rented) I withdraw, hard to imagine why it would be different however but I am no expert on them.

The T Series was a cast iron block with alloy head, and was a heavy old thing. Also a LOT more torque through the front wheels than the K-Series.
