I think the last post on that thread says it all. Very few people outside the trade want to acquire a non-driveable example of a car of this size and weight even if it's free, mever mind three grand plus to cost of moving it to a workshop and then the commencement of restoration.

"That's the thing, isn't it. Without an MOT and fixed suspension it's a trailer job and *then* the repair cost. Hiring a bloke with a trailer isn't cheap and with collapsed rear suspension you couldn't even put it on a spectacle lift because the rear would scrape - it would have to be the full flatbed deal."

I hate people carriers. But I'm still a little bit tempted by this one. Sharan VR6 would make a splendid dog-carrier, and retro in a Tony Blair, Millennium Dome kind of way.

I had the v6 in a brand new Galaxy for a few months in 2004. Great laugh!

I'm sure I read a story in a car magazine back in the day about a rally crew or similar sitting at a constant 135mph for many miles, loaded with spares and people. That was either the Galaxy or Sharan V6. Always had a soft spot for them since reading that.

Might have to head to youtube and see if anyone has added a fruity exhaust smile

That looks good value to me, remarkable given the prices of retro cars lately.

Absolutely. Not the last word in cool, but looks to be a solid example. Can't help thinking it would be worth a lot more once back in the Fatherland.

Looks like the vendor may be getting it fixed and MoTd so price may be above £4K then.

I think we've had this previously.
Might consider this or similar as a daily.
It has been for sale for a while.
Can anybody here shed any light on this particular car.

My dad would have loved that , he managed to make 2 volvo estates last over 20 years, he PX'd a P reg auto for a B reg manual, about 12 moths later he saw the P reg coming the other way, bloody hell I could have kept that, he hated the manual box.

I think I must have been adopted, I barely keep a car 20 months, sometimes 20 weeks

Plenty of welding for its last MOT but they've not done the advisory, oddly:

Reason(s) for failure
Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7)
nearside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a)
offside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a)
Indicator switch faulty (1.4.A.1)
Hazard warning switch faulty (1.4.B.1d)

nearside Body insecure and dangerous to other road users door trim (6.1.B.1b)
Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (7.1.2)

nearside rear upper Suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded (2.4.A.3)
offside rear upper Suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded (2.4.A.3)
nearside Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded floor (5.2.6)
nearside front Suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded chassis (2.4.A.3)
nearside front Anti-roll bar rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)
offside front Anti-roll bar rubber bush deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)

Advisory notice item(s)
offside front Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive chassis (2.4.A.3)

Why fix everything else and not the advisory.

Bloke gives it to body shop, says "fix this", hands them the list, body shop runs late (they all do) and wants it out the door to get on to the next customer
