I remember these being quick in the day - I think they made a Marea estate version with the same engine. Not bad cars at all. Where the hell did Fiat go?

A twenty year old recent import that will still keep up with moder stuff. Mild upgrades. Toyota reliability. Great car, maybe a little pricey at just under £5,000, but a nice car http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18369...

They make good little cars. Panda 100HP was brilliant, Punto Evo was atrocious.

Possibly Japan's best entry into the world of bork.

I do quite like the style of these; they're much better looking than the LS400 which is a real frump to my eyes. That said, I like the Lexus convertible which everyone else seems to despise, so what do I know about style.

Are they so much worse for bork than the LS? - Or is the LS not quite all they say for cheap running costs.

I've had a 1993 LS400, a 1997 Soarer 2.5TT, and still own a 1998 LS400 VVTi. The reliability reputation of the LS is well deserved, they are built like tanks and even at >250k miles my first one was still faultless. Only issue was a leaky seal on the power steering reservoir (which leaked all over the alternator and destroyed it . . . !). The TT Soarer is pretty reliable on the whole, but lots of them have been through the "wrong hands" (see ghastly numberplate above) so keep your eyes open. The V8 Soarer is loaded with all the tech available at time of manufacture, some of which is now redundant, some of which is vastly expensive to repair (air suspension etc).

My only issue with the Soarer was th the awkward pairing of a great chassis, great engine, and dim-witted autobox.

Absolutely, it's full of all the cars I wanted when I was 12 but at prices I could actually afford! Dangerous stuff indeed.

I think this looks rather lovely (and the turbo posted a while back also looks brilliant):

This is my favourite thread on PH by some margin. If I spotted a Senator similar to the one my Dad had, I'm not sure I'd be able to resist.
