I found that earlier on and looks nicer that the usual examples.

I'm looking for a run around to do the nursery/dog daycare run with. Head says £1k Max of 306 hdi or 90s vag 1.9 diesel estate but my heart wants a car worthy of this thread. Hell I've found both a track prepped 2.0 16v mk 1 golf and a race prepped 205 GTI so I've found myself considering carpet in the boot for the two dogs to lay on and anchoring them on the rear roll cage!

The Fiesta doesn't appeal at all. Looks like it's trying too hard to be retro cool and it ends up being a bit naff.

Massive want for the Carlton, even if it is rather sheddy.

Most of the 90's hot hatches are within this £5k bracket but which is the one to go for? 205GTI, Clio Williams, Fiesta XR2, Corrado VR6?? I do have a soft spot for the mk3 XR2 as I had a mk3 fiesta as my first car a few years back but on the other hand it's always good to try something else.

They are all good choices, you should try a couple and see which one you prefer. If you started that question as a separate thread it would run to many pages with no agreement by the end as to which was best.

When I was a A level student I had a car cleaning job at a vauxhall dealer. After a particularly boozy night I was finding it quite hard work and getting quite dizzy polishing the windows in the back of a Carlton estate. So I thought , I'll just lay down here for a little while. I was woken by the dealership MD shouting at me about 45 minutes later - he'd bought the new owner out to see it and found me kipping in the back stinking of booze. Wasn't fired... strangely.
