You're mad - they're awesome. I always loved the 2.8i S with those alloys:

I think it's even better for not being a Ghia - the chap who ordered it wanted the biggest engine - without nonsense.

Buyers do the opposite today - the junk 2.0 or 3.0 diesel is ordered with everything frown extras are the most important thing.

Fair enough. Isn't that a 2.8 Injection (not a 2.8i)? Don't recall an 'S'. Nice car.

That's the later facelifted Granada, so it's the 2.8 Injection. The 2.8iS was an earlier car. The wheels are the same style as the Ghia, but a different size - the Injection had metric 390mm wheels, which were painted white; quite unusual for the time. The Injection was about the same price as the 2.8 Ghia, and had a lower but sportier spec, with Recaro sports seats and sports suspension, but without all the Ghia trimings. they were fairly rare cars.

The Ghia X wasn't available from the time of launch on the face lifted Granada. For a time, the 2.8 Ghia/ 2.8i Ghia were the still the top models. After a time, Ford decided the Granada had become over priced in comparison to its rivals (it was similar money to a Mercedes 280E) - and dropped the 2.8 Ghia by about £2k.

Post price drop, it wasn't quite the same car though, loosing quite a lot of spec. You can spot these lower spec Granada 2.8 Ghias by their lack of front fog lights. The 2.8 Ghia X was launched at this time. It was basically the original pre-price drop 2.8 Ghia, but with air conditioning and electric seat adjustment too IIRC.

I do like the mk 2 Granada. They're such good looking cars - and as a 2.8 Ghia, very impressive too. The high spec Granadas were at least a match for the 5 Series or W123 Mercedes of the time in my view.

A Ghia X Executive for me. Some of the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in.

Coupe and estates seem to be more desirable.
Should have kept my original 318is I sold a few years ago for next to nothing.

Shame it's not a Ghia X and those wheel trims would have to go.

I did post this in the bargain basement thread, as it's not up to the usual standard for here. However it may be of interest to someone as I don't think it would take to much to tidy up

How about a V6 Volvo 760 estate with MOT and a private plate for £320

http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/177134/volv...

As usual with these things if I hadn't just bought a second car I would have had this myself

Private plate? It's a Norn Irrn number is all.

You are obviously correct, however a lot of people in GB buy them as Private plates, and National Numbers have valued it at £850. Not something they would do with a generic GB plate.

Is that what they'd pay you for it or just what they'd advertise it for and probably not achieve?

I know what people do, I still wouldn't describe it as a private plate.

Found this as well.

Nice 528i Touring which won't take a huge amount to tidy up and MOT.

The first one will not appear.
Driving a replica is a way of saying that you wish you had a real one! That's my problem! I also dislike recreations of classics, like the Singer 911 and Eagle E-type
