Very very very very tempting.
I prefer the Montego above personally.
I like it but its strong money for a non turbo. I owned two of these (non turbo) MG Montegos- on around 1987 which was an 85 car with the talking dash (" All monitored functions are working correctly" - said in posh female voice) and a 1990 one with the Turbo body kit but no Turbo. Both nice cars but the earlier one was better. the later one felt flimsy.

Love that Montego, a neighbour had one in white and frankly it was simply stunning (he used it to tow a caravan), I was sad to see it go as it was replaced by a Xantia (also in white, not quite as nice to look at).

It's one of the better cars here, I think.

And from here:

Someone paid more than six grand for an XR2? Why?

scratchchin

I like that a lot but why would you take pictures of the interior through the windows?
I was about to ask that.
Obvious answer to this, he keeps such good care of the interior that even opening the door could pollute his incredibly clean seats. laugh

I post some crap cars and I'm happy for people to call me out!

It's like an automotive UKIP vote. Perhaps unsurprising that PH members seem so keen!

It's fantastic, isn't it? There are some lovely cars there but some rotters too.

And six grand for an XR2? I'm going to keep repeating it until someone acknowledges it.

Anyone know how much the XR2 made?

Nice. I'm looking for a barge, but I seem to have developed a new-found fondness for Beetles thanks to this thread!

W00DY said:
And I'm glad this barge is a long way away from me. Is it just me, or is this styling so old it's now great again? Also, loving the proper old-school-lots-of-little-dials dash, none of your modern multi-function-some-of-the-pixels-are-missing-from-the-display rubbish there!*

*Ok, he does mention that at least the oil pressure gauge doesn't work all the time...

The Beetle's very sweet, my first one was a 1300A. They've got some cool little touches inside, if you like basic stuff anyway! They don't even have a full headliner biggrin

I sold a very early lhd Beetle a few years ago, it was an absolute hoot to drive!

There was a fabulous black one racing at the Goodwood Members Meeting this year

They do look great in a crisp, minimalist way. Very timeless. I'd be interested to drive one too.

I'm starting to dislike Beetles even more than I previously did. I've always hated the styling and I've never driven one (I've been a passenger in two) and that was enough to make me detest them.

Seeing so many photos is making my disdain for them stronger!

Personal taste and all that, but for a 1940s design, with origins before then, I reckon they've stood the test of time pretty well.
