They do look great in a crisp, minimalist way. Very timeless. I'd be interested to drive one too.

That seems a good buy to me, tidy up the bits and it's surely gonna climb in value in years to come.

Guy over the road from me has one and keeps it garaged all winter, doesn't stop it going to the body shop every summer for some rust treatment though hehe real shame they are so badly affected by it.
Agree that's a fine investment. When you consider the insane money duff old Escorts and Capris make, a genuine low volume racing special of a well regarded base model can only go one way.
With experience of owning a lowish volume Ford,I bet some spares for Racing Puma are hard to find and VERY expensive

being that only 100s were produced.

Old?

Retro?

Classic?
It's easily cool enough to be allowed into the thread, it's far far better choice than those ridiculous Montego and Maestro things recently posted. I'll keep quiet about my love of MG Metro's... I think I just prefer small cars.

would I be right in saying that there's actually no racing heritage for said Puma, it was a low volume option, unlike an RS Mexico or 2000?

There was some "Super 1600" rallying for Pumas but nothing to write home about.

Oh no it's the Rozzers!

I like that.
I think there were two SD1's in police livery on 'Code of a Killer'.
The other one being a white wrapped beige car, if I recall correctly, noted when the doors were open.
Think the killer drove a Lancia.

Cheers Woody!

That black one is lovely too biggrin

To keep the thread (semi) on track, I think I've found another Variany in Brazil. It's within thread budget too....

I think there is going to be an ex-Police SD1 on one of the resto programs soon. I can't remember which one, but I think it's the one with Philip Glenister on Ch4 Sunday.

It failed to race on the Saturday!
Owned by Drew Pritchard from salvage hunters.
Had a look around it and it's very nicely prepared.

Those Bull Bars are awful. Surely they half the power to weight ratio? Otherwise that looks perfect for my Italian Villa.

We're just watching that on catchup, saw the first episode last night so unless it's a different killer to the one with the Feu Orange air freshener in his car, he was driving a Fiat 131 I think.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C570472# - Though this one is a Mirafiori, ISTR they went like stink back in the 1980s, a friend's older sister had one and she'd leave the Escort boys for dead (which made me fancy her all the more) cloud9

While I'm on an Italian vibe - had one of these at 22, my first proper sports car, rotten as any car I've owned and written off by a drunk Irishman on Kilburn High road frown
Revolting steering wheel aside, and if the owner has kept on top of the rust this could be a good investment long-term.

It was neither a Lancia or a Fiat 131, it was the 131's bigger brother the 132.

Now, try finding one of those for sale....
