Classic (old, retro) cars for sale £0-5k
Discussion
Not a classic but approaching retro and I have a bit of a soft spot for these. Certainly a lot better than the car it replaced.

At long last it looks like I've bought a car! I thought long and hard about the Merc 250 that was posted before the weekend, but I'm now waiting for shipping dates and bank details then I can pay for the car
What? This one?JZZ30 said:

That's lovelyI was sorely tempted by it, but I thought it would be a glorious route to going bankrupt
I also thought about going to have a look at this car

Althpugh the condition of the drivers seat dosn't tally with the miles?
So I bought a car in Brazil instead

If it was the right time of the month and I had the time....I want a CTI more than a GTI

For 10,000+ miles a year you'd be mad to chose a small car, or an old car. That Escort will cost a fortune in welding and repairs I'm afraid. If it were a Mk.2 then I'd say go for it, and transplant a modern-ish engine like a Duratec/Zetec. But it isn't so don't.
... Having an older retro/classic is all very well, but when you start to put miles on them then expect to be doing regular work, and for them to let you down ...
An older car need not be unreliable if it is properly maintained. They only let you down if you don't maintain them properly.... Having an older retro/classic is all very well, but when you start to put miles on them then expect to be doing regular work, and for them to let you down ...

You do need to provide more information than this....!
Well these were only made in Brail, and were only for the Brailian market. They didn't make that many, approx 250k of them, and I don't know of any in Europe. In fact I've never seen one in real life So I'm buying this...

Yes but they are going to be far more prone to age related failures. Things that you just wouldn't expect to have to replace on a modern car. Oh and rust.ess said:
