They also ride and handle sublimely and are incredibly relaxed and comfortable. It's just a crying shame the engine isn't fit to use as landfill, much less reliably propel a sophisticated GT.

In my more iconoclastic moments, I am tempted to swap the vile lump out for a Porsche Boxster engine.
Oh, really? That's properly spoiled one of my long-held fantasies.

Also driving a Skyline GTS-T which may be up for sale later....53000 miles AT and completely original.
That's interesting.. Which do you have ?
I have an R32 GTS-T with 54k miles. Manual and other than rear wheel steer delete, is totally original.

Oh, it's still a marvellous old hector; just a crying shame that it didn't have either something well tried and tested, such as the Lamprendi twin-cam or something mind-bogglingly insane like the flat-eight of the original concept

That's very nice and definitely a nice spec.

Not a bad little cheap cruiser.
These look like great value, and do hold a certain 'je ne sais quoi' appeal for me.

Have to say that as a big, burly, shaven-headed chap who is 'comfortable' enough to drive MX5s/ Z3s etc, even I regard these as slightly effette (rightly or wrongly).

I laugh off colleagues' hairdresser jibes re my current Z3 (the borderline-theft purchase price helps), were it an original SLK Id feel like they had a point...

Perhaps the practicality of the folding metal roof would help assuage these feelings, but I doubt it.

Not a ridiculous suggestion for this thread by any means, but there are afew superior 2-seat front-engined RWD sporty cars available sub £5K imho.

The phonetic sound of 'SLK' inevitably invites a response of 'SL-gay' at some point too. F*cking daft way to think about things I know, but I'd be annoyed when someone eventually said it to me, perhaps being forced to respond with a robust slap across the face to assert my hetero/ macho status. Obviously Id have a quick glance around first to ensure that none of the clients from my salon were present...

That SLK has gone 'best offer accepted'. Despite the chips to the interior it looked good to me.

I think they're a bit girly too, but there's a red one locally in nice condition with five spoke Merc. alloys on it and it's quite classy. Being a mid 90s car they are small. A male former colleague had one in a dark shade.

The test in the US with Georg Kacher said the SLK could be encouarged to nice do nice drifts compared to the Z3.

These look seriously undervalued at the moment. Not sure I'd want an LPG one though!

I had one of these about 13 years ago. Loved it, (except for the leaky sunroof!), but chopped it in for a Carlton GSi.

They are gaining ground though.

I wouldn't touch that one - LPG, been listed on eBay multiple times with no takers and its either got a boot full of lead or there is an immediate bill for rebuilding the rear suspension

I know it is outside thread budget, but curious as to peoples opinions on this

Kia elan

https://www.gumtree.com/p/lotus/2001-lotus-kia-ela...

Price wise its well into lotus turbo territory, and I would think its about 4K over priced. But it's certainly rare.

I'd much prefer the tubo'ed Lotus version, just because it is rare doesn't make it worth more than the original.
