That Montego looks virtually new. Probably a great car, but I really don't want it.

Speaking from experience are you? I had three montego's and I had a very serious crash in one. I hit a tree almost square on at around 50 and then it flipped onto its roof. I sustained no injuries whatsoever despite not wearing a seat belt and the car itself held up very well. I also never noticed the pillar twisting upon opening the doors. Unless you have factual statements, keep them to yourself. I see you drive a Citroen so I think the old thin tin is a bit pot calling the kettle black.

I had two MG Montegos and a bog standard 1.3 Maestro. All were good cars in their day.

I'm tempted by that Maroon Saloon but don't have any more space to keep it under cover or I'd make a cheeky offer.

Yes I am. My fathers car had a windscreen "pop" a seal because of it....I had to fix it with a block of wood trapped in the door and pulled it the other way !

As for my driving a Citroen (x2 to be correct and a AH), what TF are you talking about, the X7 has one of the highest N Caps and has the HydroActive 3 suspension, the XantiaV6-Activa is the handling GOD of FWD & built like a battleship and the AH is a dream car......moan on.

BTW, insults & personalise it ? = FAIL mate

Now go tell the world that pile of poo from BL is a great car that was well built and designed, one person will maybe be fooled. It is an oddity that is all.

That rev-counter must have freaked out the peeps in the 60s - 8,500 max revs!!!

It looks like it would give a Mini Cooper S a run for its money.
These things were amazing went like the clappers for a little engine, it's sold already don't tell me it was listed on ebay under £5k? (its worth a lot more than that in todays market even needing work)
was worth loads more....
£5700. It did seem like a lot of funky classic for the money.
Needle roller bearing crank IIRC
No plain white metal here!

Speaking having worked for Alfa many years ago;

The 164 and 156 are both fantastic nominations. I know deep down the 156 will be the better car but I'm pretty sure that I want the 164 more. If the 164 were in Alfa Red/Tan then it would me no contest

I've got a set of genuine Audi Cabriolet wheels off my old 80 coupe like these if anybody picks this up.

That 156 is the same spec as my old one. Fantastic car. If ONLY the rear seats folded, it would have been a keeper. If as solid as it looks, a great buy.

My friend sent me a link to the 164 a couple of days ago. That's a handsome beast from the rear, if straight lines are your thing (they are for me). Enough buttons on the centre console?!

I was at Alfa when the 156 was launched, thank God! As much as I loved the 155 (especially a Sport Pack 2.0) the 156 really did turn Alfa around.

Exactly my thought. Was this dashboard designed by a church organist?

Bloody hell! A minidisc changer how obsolete, I can imagine spending a lot of free time on ebay getting some discs and a writer just so that I could play my music that way.

I once bought a Mk3 Golf GTI 16v for £150 as a temporary snotter and it had an MD player in it. I borrowed a minidisc off a friend (which took some doing to find someone who actually had some) and it worked perfectly. When I scrapped the Golf a few months later I ripped out the player and got £38 for it on Ebay. Together with weighing the thing in it meant I actually made money on the deal.

The are very well built, well protected as well. Like all cars they need to be looked after or they will go. Like most, rear wing areas and sub-frame mounts are common poor areas. Engines are bomb proof as is the suspension unless a monkey with a hammer has been let loose on it smile

I take it you know very little about them if you do not know about their handling and comfort. Good to Very - on normal cars (of the age).
The ACTIVA models, I will leave to you to look up.
There is not much out there even today that they cannot stick to or better with ease (without spending many many 1000's on to do better).
