There are two different 504 rear suspensions, too. Live axle and IRS. I know the estates were live axle, but have a vague suspicion that some of the lower end saloons may have been too. I'm sure the TI was IRS, though. I really like that car. They were excellent machines.
That's right - I had forgotten the low spec cars had a live axle. There was a lower-than-low spec version called just "504"; the brochure aimed it at farmers.

Oddly, the 504 L had a column shift, whereas the 504 GL and Ti had a floor mounted shift. The L also had a completely different dash to the GL and Ti and different instruments too. IIRC, only the GL and Ti were available with an automatic transmission, but most cars seemed to be manual.
Impressive 504 bearding! smile
Ha ha! But one glance at Lowtimer's beard make feel like I have Frank beard's beard!

These are one of the best looking saloon cars BMW has made; to my eyes far nicer than the E38. It has an excellent spec, but it won't be a ball of fire as a 730i

Unusually tasteful colour scheme, that 7 series - some of the 90s BMWs (late E34s and many E39s) can be pretty tacky looking when they get going with the sections of tree.

ETA, I appreciate the E32 there is actually 80s, but you know what I mean.

I've been looking at getting a Coupe Turbo for about 4 months now, that one on ebay is WAY overpriced imo but might pop down this weekend and have a look. If this one was closer to me I'd have probably bought it, £1,750 for a FDH Tomcat is a lot of car for the money. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C572421

The Subaru SVX is a very interesting car to my eyes. Available within budget. Has anybody driven one?

Interior looks in very good condition actually. Superb retro purchase.

This one is half the miles, but lower specification:

I haven't seen many of these over the years at all. They must be rare, because they're genuinely striking.
Rare because the gearboxes fail - massively expensive and happens to all of them. I sold mine when it started feeling dodgy for the second time (warranty dealt with the first failure). In the states there are a lot of manual conversions.

Also lots of parts were specific to the SVX and getting them started to get tricky.
I still have a pair of ball joints on a shelf if anyone has an svx and wants one.
That second one is an import - all the uk cars had full leather seats.

I was looking at that one earlier. Sold 'as seen, where is'. Lol. Looks like its on top of a container, could be tricky!

Also available was the Dangel version.

Yep, the TI was IRS - my old man had one for a number of years and I remember crawling under it to have a look, probably around MOT time! Lovely proper Peugeot smile

My dad had one as well. His was a 504 Ti in metallic blue with a black coach line and a sunroof and beige cloth. He had it from '76 to '79. It had electric windows - I loved that!

I had one just like that. Except mine had the infamous Talbot point and shoot gearbox - it's in there somewhere. That could have been resolved, what couldn't was the smell of dog (no matter how much I shampooed the interior). In my defence my dad bought it auction for me (with my money) and I sold it on for the same price. It's a shame as it had quite a nice interior (for the time) and not a bad drive when the gearbox was mastered.

It's the Septre special edition which means the 86bhp engine, tinted glass, sunroof and power steering. My brother had the 1.6 LS which was only 78 bhp, it wasn't really noticeable but the steering really made a difference.

Watch out for the tappets...
