The 190 and 124 clearly share some old-merc DNA, but the driving experience is not exactly the same by any means. Obviously, the 190 is much smaller, but it's a terrific little thing in town.

I see the appeal of a manual Actually, I don't. Auto 190 'FTW' as the youngsters say!

The barge 1-5 thread are having a Christmas gathering on the 29th off December - I'm sure that the 0-5k thread regulars would get on with them. Sign up here: http://doodle.com/poll/a2w29c55fwpw3kmt#table

£3995

A very much under the radar gti.
Maybe a nice set of BBS alloys would enhance the sportiness.

I wonder why they are getting rid now?
If it'd been in my family for 25 years and was in as good condition as that looks, I'd be very reluctant to part with it

I remember when these replaced the Cortina.
The shape was 'way out there' at the time.

It was certainly touted as such by the media, but as a family that owned two Citroen CX at the time, it didn't seem particularly groundbreaking smile

Always wanted my parents to get a CX, Dad had a few GS' and BX's after a fling with a few Peugeot 504's.

I wanted my dad to get an XJ6, but bought a GS instead. Then a couple of CXs, the over riding memory is of car sickness with that wallowing ride.

I've owned five mk2 GTi's and thought I'd got them out of my system. That really isn't helping me to abstain. A PAS rack away from personal perfection.

Good spot on the trade plate eagle eyes.

Dad had an XJ6 which I loved until our French friends came to visit in their CX; they may as well have arrived in a space ship, from that point on I wanted dad to get one. He refused, citing 'unreliability' while tooling around in a BL-era Jag rolleyes

When we did eventually go French, it was a 504 estate which had it's charms (2 rows of rear seats so I could disappear off to the third row, away from an annoying sister and the worst of my mother's cigarette smoke) but it wasn't a patch on the Citroen.

Anyway, object of retro desire today will probably go above budget, but......
