I remember when these replaced the Cortina.
The shape was 'way out there' at the time.
That is an early one - hasn't even got the rabbit ears
Dad had a Y plate one in red - same body including those trims. His was a 1300, absolutely asthmatic thing that I passed my test in. 4 speed box too, it really was just a rebodied Cortina. He worked for a Ford dealer and insisted on getting the biggest but therefore lowest spec he could as a company car rather than a mid spec Escort.

Well, it could be just my eyes but if you look at this pic of a later one with them below

They don't seem to be fitted.

I stand corrected though if you've got a better photo

Max Torque will probably explain it better but they provided a better departure point for air streaming past the side window area

Neil Kinnock's accident was thought to be partly down to deficiencies in this area

Dad had an XJ6 which I loved until our French friends came to visit in their CX; they may as well have arrived in a space ship, from that point on I wanted dad to get one. He refused, citing 'unreliability' while tooling around in a BL-era Jag rolleyes

When we did eventually go French, it was a 504 estate which had it's charms (2 rows of rear seats so I could disappear off to the third row, away from an annoying sister and the worst of my mother's cigarette smoke) but it wasn't a patch on the Citroen.

Anyway, object of retro desire today will probably go above budget, but......

I like the car but I've never seen privacy glass suit a vehicle less than that.

I am loving the CX's more and more every day. That is non-turbo is it not? I think the Turbo was called Citroen CX GTI Turbo 2 or something- throwing every buzz word of the day together. Love them

For some strange reason these are starting to appeal.
Never really liked them when they were new.

That advert links to a 525i.

But that is really strange, as I remember years and years ago my dad was considering taking a Granada Scorpio as his next company car, and he swapped his 525i with a colleague for a week, deciding to stick with a new Beemer in the end. What a bizarre coincidence, the ads have thrown up some memories I had completely forgotten smile

Edit - correct ad now linked laugh Shame it doesn't have the leather seats, I remember thinking the heat came through the perforations in the leather when I was a kid!

Isn't the white car a GS?

Yes, it is a GS. Similar design philosophy in a smaller package. Lovely little things.
Really very scarce now, they were terrific but major rot-boxes. In many ways a French equivalent of the Alfasud

A Flat 4 as well, so basically a Front Engined Alfa-Sud with 2cv body roll on CX liquid suspension....a wonderful mix

I've found them more appealing since I saw this video:

I can't believe it's not Alan Partridge.

There´s a lot of non-information in that advert - "Its mot until may or june 2016", two pictures have two different types of wheel (24V or Ghia?), "fully loaded" would mean it has leather, and the bonnet has a Mercure badge on.
Although those are comfortable, wafty things: Run away.
