In 1988 you'd have been king of the sales reps in this bad boy.

Only 3 of them left? frown

My dad had 2 21s, the second was a GTX with the same 2.0 engine as this. His had odd spec with things like keep fit windows yet electric sunroof.

Also, a model noted for being available in 4 different wheelbases, fact fans!

King of the sales reps would have had a Cavalier Diplomat V6 surely? Sadly I can't find one for sale!

I did however find this...

14000 miles from new. Probably because they're so bad to drive laugh

Love this thread, great fun. Here’s five Antipodean finds, all European. As the AU$ is about 2:1 for Sterling, I’ve set a budget of $10k, and a minimum age of 20 years…

For the masochists, a 28-year-old Maserati Biturbo…
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Maserat...

For the Swedish fetishists and pimps, a 1980 Volvo 262GT coupe…
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Volvo-2...

For the predictable, an E12 BMW 528i, though it is bright green and does now have a 3.5-litre engine and 5-sp box…
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/BMW-528...

For the wafter, an E32 BMW 750iL…
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/BMW-750...

And for the purist, a one-owner from new, 1971 Triumph 2.5PI…
http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Triumph...

Might have a look later to see if there’s anything Aussie worth looking at.

I really like that and there can't be many non-shagged examples.

I guess it just has a really small market, drop the price too much and it's in danger of falling into the wrong hands.

The pictures and writeup suggests the dealer is enthusiast, but I don't know how their prices stand.
The Golf GTI looks quite smart.

I didn't know that. I was working at a Renault dealer when these were current.
I know that the estate (Savannah?) was longer; presumably the other variable was related to the engine/transmission configuration - 1.7 transverse, 2.0 north-south ?

My grandmother had one. She walked into the vauxhall dealer and paid list price for one on a K plate without telling the rest of the family. Corsas were already in the dealership. The dealer gave her a set of mats when she picked it up but wouldn't even fill it up!

The clutch had to be replaced at 10k miles - proper granny driving!

Did you have to post that? I used to have one, and it's one of only two cars I ever regret selling!

Because of you I've just emailed the seller. bd! furious

Maybe the location is holding it back?

Is there any opportunity for DVLA to mess up import paperwork or is it the same as buying a car from someone a few roads away?

If buying in NI is as easy as a typical purchase, then maybe a holiday is in order? They seem to have some nice cars over there
