Nice to see a manual version for a change but I would avoid the AWD like the plague and go for the 2wd drive version - thing is, the R models were all about looking good - no faster than a standard V70 T5
I thought they had the slightly bigger 16T and an extra 10bhp? Can get a cheap remap to take these upto a realistic 270- 290bhp though.

But yes, the AWD did have a reputation for being problematic and probably adds extra weight too?

Not sure if classic, but definitely retro based on the fact that young me used to make a mess of the brochure looking at all that alcantara (mainly the steering wheel... man was that thing sexy!). sperm

proper Grandad wheels, Sierras were 4-bolt
Thank you. They look so small. The headlamps look bigger than the wheels.

I'd love another if these..had one back when I was 18... A long time ago

Anyone remember the LXi and L X versions, promoted as the reps reward smile
I still have a soft spor for these.

It's hard to imagine these days how a car with a 1.8 115 bhp motor was considered the fast version.

We were much easier pleased back then.
Recaros, a foam spoiler, stickers & 1 inch larger alloys were all that were required. smile

At first glance I thought it was just a gutless DOHC but no its got the lovely V6.
Nice find. Seems good value too? A bit of a left field choice back in the day, can't imagine they sold many.

They were awesome Recaros though, and mine felt pretty fast when I was 18. In laboratory tests on the local bypass, it was also a smidge quicker than my mate's XR3i. biggrin

The CX is a lovely looking car - almost as good as the Jaguar, which I reckon is one of the prettiest saloons ever built. I couldn't have one with a diesel engine in it though!

That Jag is fabulous. XJ12. One of the best cars ever made. It shouldn't have the rust woes of a UK car, so that's a big thing less to worry about!

EDIT: 22k mph would be slightly excessive!

Yes, they are a banger racer's favourite. They're such strong things -and cheap. the Same thing happened to a lot of Jaguar XJ40s for the same reason. What are they using now - the Lexus LS?

That said, banger racers destroyed most of the MkI and MKII Granadas which hasn't hurt the values of the few which remain.

Imagine turning up for a date in that. It'd be like shooting fish in a barrel; it would turn you directly into Hugh Heffner just by sitting in it.

You would have to wear a fur coat, Aviators and a Bandito moustache not to be upstaged by the car of course.
