God that is cool. My dad once went on about buying one of these when I was about 8. He bottled it and bought a Rover 820 instead. Never forgave him.daniel-5zjw7 said:
Really liking that Renault!! Some very interesting styling, just a shame it isn't a better colour combo.
Sure this has been put up as has been for sale twice now, but liking this Triumph Herald, subtle mods, 1500 engine and a little hot rod about it, looks a good buy for circa 4k to me.

Love that! Would be a real hoot with the Triumph 2.5pi 6 cyl motor in it......Sure this has been put up as has been for sale twice now, but liking this Triumph Herald, subtle mods, 1500 engine and a little hot rod about it, looks a good buy for circa 4k to me.

Always liked these, and this seems like amazing for he money.Undoubtedly a rolling restoration as the seller states, however such a wonderful and rare bit of kit.
Never going to make a speculator a fortune, which is all the more beneficial to an enthusiast.
If this was a direct competitor when new to a 3.2 911, just look at where they are price wise for a car in a similar condition.

True. Not one car in the fleet is of any use whatsoever.
I was going to ask if it was from growing up with Swedish cars as whilst they were very dull and unimpressive as a child, very comfy seats and decent hifis appeal more and more with every passing second of agewhen life is spent driving in London’s traffic and schleps further afield. That said, I’m not sure a 240 is the answer; my parents had one when I was 17 and I remember the brakes being lacking for “exuberant driving of youth,” and the tiny wheelbase meaning they’re quite tight inside. Late 90s V70s (my mum had one; such a comfy way to kill 600 miles and be fresh for an evening in the pub) and V90s have an appeal but the latter would lead to a temptation to look at crate LS7s or LSAs which wouldn’t end well.
I grew up with late 1990s Volvos, and bought a V70R AWD in a fit of nostalgia a few years back.
It was awful - turns out that V70s of that era have electronics made of cheese, and the 4x4 systems lunch themselves. My friend had exactly the same experience with his XC70 of the same vintage.
So I'm hankering for the proven old tech of the 250 / V90 cars.

I feel compelled to mount a defence here. This 1994 850 was purchased as a dog car a few months ago (thread on Reader's cars, if anyone is interested) and is fast becoming irreplaceable. It's just a (thirsty) five cylinder 2.0 so it won't ever set the world on fire but with about 75000 on the clock and a mega-file of history, I don't think I'll be parted from it in a hurry. It was awful - turns out that V70s of that era have electronics made of cheese, and the 4x4 systems lunch themselves. £4500
A lot of money for a Passat estate.
Maybe it's the VW tax..

While on renault, what about a brand new Renault 19? Not actually too badly priced.
