Nothing says "I'm a cheap bd" like a Golf which turns its engine off and has a massive clock.

I never really understood the 'Giant Clock' thing - a particular favourite of the Germans in the 80s - are the innards of a clock really that much cheaper than those of a tacho? I do get why they were there with old diesels with no convenient source of rpm data.
I doubt it saved them anything, but I'm sure it made them plenty with people upgrading to avoid staring at a symbolic representation of their every failure. My favourite is when there's just a picture of the car or logo instead.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...
A handsome motor car.

I still have a soft spor for these.
It's hard to imagine these days how a car with a 1.8 115 bhp motor was considered the fast version.
We were much easier pleased back then. It's hard to imagine these days how a car with a 1.8 115 bhp motor was considered the fast version.
Recaros, a foam spoiler, stickers & 1 inch larger alloys were all that were required.

Not sure if classic, but definitely retro based on the fact that young me used to make a mess of the brochure looking at all that alcantara (mainly the steering wheel... man was that thing sexy!).

Imagine turning up for a date in that. It'd be like shooting fish in a barrel; it would turn you directly into Hugh Heffner just by sitting in it. You would have to wear a fur coat, Aviators and a Bandito moustache not to be upstaged by the car of course.

Pinched from the Bargain Basement Thread but I think it fits here ->
I know a guy who got one new and kept it for about 10 years. It was a properly cherished car and he loved it but I never liked the looks or the ape like driving position. It had to have the floor welded at one point too...ZiggyNiva said:
On a serious note I am liking this 145 cloverleaf with recent cambelt change for £800

I love these and was thinking about them the other day. Used to sell them new and they are great hot hatches and that engine is a peach. Tempted with that one......thank God I have a private plate to go in it though Leather looks a bit mouldy though!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo-145-2-0-16v-C...

I think that the point was to shame you into paying extra to get a tach.Looks great:
Not sure if this is a repost, but these must be really rare now. I remember my grandad having a Victor of a similar vintage (E reg I think) when I was little, and at 10 years old or so it was as rotten as a pear.
