Remember Top Gear running a feature saying the VR6 versions were to be become something of a future classic.

I thought they had the slightly bigger 16T and an extra 10bhp? Can get a cheap remap to take these upto a realistic 270- 290bhp though.
But yes, the AWD did have a reputation for being problematic and probably adds extra weight too?
Depends on the year, the very early P and R plate cars had the T-5R engine which is essentially a re-mapped standard B5234T3 with 237bhp (240ps)for the autos and 247bhp for the manual - They vary in power - the P2 versions had the same engine as my T5 C70 which has an updated ignition system and few other tweaks giving 247bhp (250ps) and the ultra rare P3 models had a 261bhp output (265ps)- The AWD system is known for prop bearing wear and requires a full prop replacement at well over 1000quid. Many AWD version are now FWD because of this with the prop simply being removed! - I had a look at a laser blue P2 AWD a while back (Steve Coogan's old car incidentally!) and sadly it was a dog so I walked away -But yes, the AWD did have a reputation for being problematic and probably adds extra weight too?
Ultimately they are over priced for what they are and personally unless you need the estate The same performance can be had from a C70 T5 - Get one with the T5 lump and the GT pack and it's a performance bargain - even has generally a better spec than the V70 - My C70 GT cost 38grand new in 1999 with its extras (including 77quid for a wooden gear knob!) but I paid £900 for it 3 years ago, been utterly brilliant and surprisingly practical - really is the forgotten fast Volvo - Even has a TWR tuned chassis which the V70 didn't - just as fast as V70 too - 155mph and 0-60 in 6.6secs for the manual

I had a C70 T5 and it never pushed my buttons really. To me it felt just as lardy as the S70 but I expected more because of the sporty packaging. I also felt it was more difficult to get in and out of and park and it had annoying wind noise from the window area that was difficult to fix. But yes I agree, the V70 T5 & Rs seem to be overpriced for what they are. There is one on eBay at the moment for £2600 with 150k on an R plate. Seems mental to me.

Wonder if anyone special orders brown velour in their Roller these days.
Never mind V-car, I'm pretty sure this van is on a different register.

As for the day van, my mates used to refer to the one I had as the 'rape van', which was nice of them.

A touch being the amount I paid for my similar IS. I'm bored at work and winding down my notice period, so there maybe a few posts this afternoon from me

Calling all yummy mummies with a desire to be slightly different on the school run! A forgotten hero, the original people carrier designed by a bunch of loons from the north who thought that a 7-seater with only two doors would be a great idea. And it was!

I might have been creative with the budget and used some of the saving from the Toyota on this one...
