yes

Think of it more like a RWD Golf GTI 16v competitor rather than a similar car to a 318i, it had moie power than the 320i and mine was an absolute riot.

To be fair to those not in the know they could easily slip under the radar and into the "it's only 318" camp.

My mistake. I assumed that was just a trim spec.

It's not totally different

It's got a different motor and a few other go faster/look sportier bits bit it's still a 4 pot 3 series. Similar performance to the 320i IIRC. 140 bhp twincam 16v 1.8 engine.

They've been called the baby M3 by some but I think it's more of a sportier 318 than a baby M3.

The colour of that 944 is just gorgeous!!

£2,500 for this classic, lots of money left over to make it look like a Supersport, you know you want to!

A fairly rare option unfortunately. Mine had one.

Not sure if classic, but definitely retro based on the fact that young me used to make a mess of the brochure looking at all that alcantara (mainly the steering wheel... man was that thing sexy!). sperm

I've had one of these, in the Aubergine purple colour.

Horribly unreliable - 4wd system broke, all the electrics started to fail. A friend has the XC - similar issues. The V70 is known for being a bit rubbish.

Which is a shame, as it looks great and goes like stink at the top end.

Top of tread budget, no history, unwarranted fantasy mileage.

Trying it on before he auctions it off for it's true value, closer to £3k.

Aye, the 4WD systems are a bit chocolate, or so I've heard. I wouldn't say all V70s are rubbish though! My old man took his first-gen V70 (170 hp) to roughly 125.000 miles in the four years he had it without any issues. The only hick-up was on the morning of January 1st 2000 when it wouldn't start. Millennium bug! eek Or so we thought. Turned out it didn't like being moved a few feet on the drive to make way for the NYE firework display. It just coughed out a big black plume of smoke as it came back to life.

Cracking car.

Time is a strange thing. It robs some cars of their desirability, yet it gives to others. I remember these Toyota SuperSaloons as being embarrassing bits of tat in their day - yet I now find it strangely attractive.

I'm not sure that's true. It has some well-known weaknesses, and the 4WD versions are not generally well-loved, but good ones are still sought-after.

It's a beige Fiesta with unspecified engine. Noisy, slow and not great handling.

Struggling to see the attraction.

Wonder if anyone special orders brown velour in their Roller these days.
My dad had a business associate in the 1980s who owned a Bentley Mulsanne with red velour. He bought it at a couple of years old and at a very good price. He seemed to specialise in buying posh cars with odd specs. I remember he also owned a Daimler with tweed seats. He got that at a bargain price too, I'll wager.
