Inspired by W00DY's post of an 800 Vitesse on t'other thread I had a bit of a scout around on eBay for a Tomcat Turbo. Nothing half-decent turned up but this VVC one looks rather nice. Just don't mention head gaskets

or deadly understeer, hedgecutter
That really only affected the 2.0i turbo, not the 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 n/a cars
If true (the 2ltrT was the one I rented) I withdraw, hard to imagine why it would be different however but I am no expert on them.
The Turbo variant had a strange choice of Torsen diff in it which made them quite snatchy under power. The later Type B Torsen makes quite an improvement if you fit one

Shame the seller doesn't seem that bright.

An insurance claim does not show up on HPI unless it was a total loss.

Whist it ma be seen as the poor relation to its predecessor, a 1.6 20v with 160ps and 1090kg sounds good to me. Anyone tried one?
I've been eyeing that one up. A friend used to have that generation one. Engines are superb screamers, easily as enjoyable as a VTEC from the same era. The handling isn't as good though. They've never really been loved (or even heard of) so probably not going to appreciate, but a nice reliable buy if you like the look of it.

a friend had the same car, but the first 3.0 engine. Wasn't much difference in power due to the latter car having 4 cats! Was a quick old beast that raised a few eyebrows in traffic light grand prix!!
he paid 300 quid though, £3750 is wonderfully optimistic.

Awful
I've had my share of Issigonis's little car and wouldn't have another if you paid me.
THat one looks pretty rough around the front panel seams and probably not a standard colour
That looks like a 70's BL colour to me, like the poo brown Allegro. I wonder if BL got Ford and Vauxhall to choose their colour palette?

Lurker alert smile

Talking about spotting a thread late.

Loving the cars on this thread and still not read all 400+ pages.

Made the plunge myself and went for a lovely Mercedes 190e. Drove a fair few Mercs of this era when I was in the trade. Adore them with their overengineeredness.

But my nomination from EBay is a bit if a cheat as this one needs to bit of tlc to say the least and good ones are 13k+.

Ronin anyone, I'm Jean Reno!

Strategic use of casters under rear door, I suppose it would be ridiculous to expect the rear self levelling to work.

The car advertised has the Porsche tuned 3.0 v6 introduced in 2000.
The 3.0 v6 before this didn't have variable valve timing and was several horsies down.
If you remove 2 of the 4 cats on the later car you release over 30hp!!

Dan. You should post these on the smoker barge 1-5 thread. They do love an old merc, and that combo is an automotive wet dream for some over there.

Fun in their day as an 18 year old lout, but not any more

I will stick to my Lexus, if its all the same with you ??

This has featured before:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1973-FORD-CORTINA-MK3-2-...

That 406 is very pricey and the pricing of at least one of their other cars looks expensive as well.

I don't think you quite get the whole classic car thing.

Oh you drive a Lexus, that explains it.
