Honestly my other half wouldn't notice - no need to cage it.....
My track car before I put a cage in it you could jack it up on one corner and if the door was open you couldn't shut it, if it was shut you couldn't open it
When I fitted a full welded in cage the difference was amazing Mrs BC couldn't notice the difference but if you jacked up one corner the doors opened and shut as if it was sitting in all four wheels.
What car was that?My track car before I put a cage in it you could jack it up on one corner and if the door was open you couldn't shut it, if it was shut you couldn't open it

Quite a few 1980s and early 1990s cars flexed that badly. Citroen AX - park it with two wheels on the kerb and you can't shut the boot. Or maybe just one wheel. Can't remember how bad it was

Spotted this 306 Cabrio on Gumtree, only £1,500 and 47,000 miles:
https://www.gumtree.com/p/peugeot/peugeot-306-cabr...
This 306 is very local to me so I asked the Mrs if funds might be made available, denied!
How local? Interested in viewing on my behalf?https://www.gumtree.com/p/peugeot/peugeot-306-cabr...

That's interesting, but quite expensive. This is more everyday, but looks better than a lot of cars for sale for £1k (assuming the MoT's a reasonable length).http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C325563
No love for the 1.8L I'm afraid.

That's a great looking MonzaSomehow I'm not surprised that they flex a bit!
Oh
It only has middle sills from the rear wheels to half way along the sills then they stop
The front chassis rails built into the monocoque stop before that
There is no overlap between the front rails and the rear chassis rails built into the monocoque
But fit a welded 8 point cage from front suspension to rear suspension and all those issues no longer apply.....
I have some bad news
10 mins after that shot I threw it onto it's roof.............
Best picture I have of it

Pricey.... and the goofy looking retro fit sunroof that was never fitted to them new would be hugely off putting for me (and maybe prospective future buyers)Not sure how much these go for so could end up over thread budget, but what a rare thing.

Big thanks to Oobster for his assistance today
To keep the idea of distance viewing and first inspection of a car a long way from you going, if anyone needs a car looking at near Darlington / Scotch Corner area drop me a line.
You know, this makes me wonder - perhaps we should have a thread where people with the ability to look a car over can post their location, to save wasted journeys for others? To keep the idea of distance viewing and first inspection of a car a long way from you going, if anyone needs a car looking at near Darlington / Scotch Corner area drop me a line.

Awesome . XU9 on twin Solex, tuned by the same guy who did the AX sport. It should reach comfortably over 5k, looks in good nik.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-BX-SPORT-1985-th...
A well known car in "the clubs", it will fetch top dollar for the type and as such can be used (once it sells) as a bench mark price for the type.
Even by today's standards a fantastically comfortable drive. I cannot think of a much better car for use as as weekender or even as a relaxing 5o mile commuter car with low tax. Hard day at work and normal slow traffic on the way home over our crap road surfaces ? just relax !

Not as cool, but is a Xantia any good for waftiness?Even by today's standards a fantastically comfortable drive. Yes, a bit better because of the extra weight IMHO.There is always the Xantia ACTIVA if you can ever find one these days, waft PLUS st crazy cornering skills that boggle the mind and leave those who have not driven one doubting your words about them. Unbelievable cars to those unwashed by them.
