No, I don't need my drive tarmaccing or gutters cleaning thank you very much.
That's about as far from gyppo as you can get though.

Isn't it?

I have to say that Rover P5s don't scream gypo

Not a Ford Transit or Vauxhall Movano in sight

Not a car, but is it wrong to really want this?

I really, really like that and as a rule I loathe caravans. It seems something in me dislikes things that are st, but likes things that are st AND old.

ETA - I also really liked the Volvo above. I think I need help.

The first line was the reason I got married. And the second, well, one lives and learns!

I think a vintage/old caravan becomes appealing because it's old (as dme says, being a bit st and old has a charm), because they're so awful that they become cool again, and because you could tow it behind the type of old sheds I like without either looking too incongruous. Am I convincing anyone?

Works for me, I hate caravans but wouldn't mind an old camper van. This would be great but I'd feel bad using a modern car to go anywhere with it so would need a suitable old car, even that Volvo is too new and square. A P1800 though....

A P1800 couldn't pull that out of a wet paper bag. The P5B that's towing it is a good choice, so would be a Jag S-Type or similar.

I haev no particular interest in towing things around but I do like it as an artifact, it's rather splendid.

Ah! Must be a young'un! The original 700 series was a set square-ists delight.

I think an Amazon estate would be the thing to pull CdGs caravan. The P1800 is far to glam for such duties.

I wish the 780 Bertone Coupé had come in RHD.

There's more than a bit of Maserati Biturbo in the mix there isn't there?

It's a pretty picture imaging the Rover pulling that along on a sunny day, but the reality is that for most of the year you've got a wheeled shed on your drive. A campervan can just be a van most of the time and everyone knows vans are ace. Caravans are st.

Without a doubt. Saw this one on holiday last year and that's exactly what came to mind.

Ditto. I can still remember buying a copy of Autocar with the 780 taking up the front cover, thinking it looked terrific. Still does, to my eyes at least.

This 6 series looks nice for £4500 or best offer. Might not look as good in the dry!

Needs to be a 960 or better yet an S90...with the 3 litre 204BHP straight six

ETA: in fact this one which didn't sell at 5 bags when it was advertised by the importer and clearly didn't reach reserve at the auction either...wonder if they'd cut their losses and deal at £3500

That was originally owned by a member on the Volvo owners forum, he was asking £1,500 for it:

It's changed hands a couple of times and now with the dealer above.

Partridge-spec Rover - £2200

I'd quite like one, but at £200. That seems like a lot of money for an 800 - it's not like gold 800s are hot property at the moment.
Cook Pass Babtridge!
They are getting rare, and while the KV6 in a late 825 is nice it is also extremely fragile and usually saddled with a terrible 4 speed JATCO autobox with very tall and widely spaced ratios. Oh and also it's installed into a car that was barely competitive in 1986.

This doesn't look dear for hatch with a naturally aspirated straight 6, RWD and a manual gearbox (anyone looked at V6 Capri prices lately)!

I'd debate the sellers "great condition throughout" comment, but that's a great car for the price.
