Far too much money!Leggy, next to no MOT history, and quite possibly stolen / recovered, guessing from the ignition lock 'explanation'.
Good cars, but that would have to be a grand for me to be interested.
This tempts me, although some mention of history to back up mileage would be nice and why is the boot lock missing.

You swine! I was looking for a decent one of these for ages until just recently. There have been a couple appear but they've always had something that put me off. I gave up and ordered a new Citigo, which to be fair is a fun little runabout nonetheless. Where did you find it? Great pick up btw.

I wouldn't say that's worth 3 times what Oa got that gold and brown W124 for. You pays your money....
If your criterion is the objective excellence of a car for a given budget then a 924 rules over a Capri, a W124 or an E39 rules over a Sierra or Granada, a R129 rules over a Stag. A W124 is in many ways a better car than a Sierra but rational superiority is only part of what drives prices.Scarcity is a legitimate half of the supply/demand equation. There are far more examples of the W201 and W124 on the road now than functional Sierras and Granadas. Similarly, rationally a good Porsche 924 or 2.5 944 is a massively better car than a Capri 2.0 or 3.0, but the Porsches are in relatively abundant supply because of 99% of the Fords rusting away ten or 15 years ago. So supply and demand meet at a different price point than for the Fords.
Having powerful and happy memories of '70s and '80s Fords and Vauxhalls I totally understand why quite a few people with money would want a mint 1979 Capri 3.0S, or an RS2000, not because they are the best handling thing in its class, but for the memories and the smiles they produce. I wish I'd been able to keep at least one of my Mark II Escorts and my 2.2 Manta, but I couldn't at the time.
A haggle over budget. Bagging it would put it over budget though...

P.s. to answer a previous poster, I doubt I'll do a readers ride thread at the mo anyway as I've not plans to do much to it!

I'm also looking. There's a few on AT now. Was planning to phone some next week when back from hols. If you've seen any, or talked to the owners, and they look/sound like dogs, then let me know and I will avoid!Where did you find it? Great pick up btw.

That would be a great little car - still got a way to go on the the auction though. Surprisingly quick as the ad suggests too plus a sunroof This old mk1 Fiesta is in need of a bit of love but has only done 56k, looks like it could be a bargain for someone to bring it back to its former glory... http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/172628588594?_mwBanner=1
Astra GTE Convertible, £3795 with 62k on the clock. Not too many around these days. Mot history shows it's had some welding done before, which might explain the rarity.

Love the look of that. How much would it cost to restore it to decent condition? 5k? 10k?www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1952-6-PASSENGER-CHRYSLER-TOWN-...

A Hot-Air gun turns grey plastic back to black again......works a treat.
Interesting - I never knew that...[Goes out to try it and promptly burns the Discovery to a crisp...]
Warm the wider area first, keep touching the plastic to test the temp with your palm, when it gets "hot warm" concentrate the heat in a small area, it will go black......then move the heat like a paint brush.

Nah, much less than that, honest. You should buy it and then tell us all about it. PT Cruiser is about as close as I could get to owning a Mopar wagon...
