Obviously this is an exaggeration for effect on an internet forum but do you really mean this?
More 'design' isn't always a good thing. Unless of course you like fussier looking cars.
less is more etc.
Yes. Sure, it's the original design evolved with their brand, etc. but every time I see it.. I dunno.. It's just so dreadful.More 'design' isn't always a good thing. Unless of course you like fussier looking cars.

Erm.. you do see how many of these are on the road right? Don't see the point? I'm pretty sure the run away sales success of it seems more than enough point to the Audi Accountants
Just sayin.
Audi have played the card so well (as in generating sales) it would be daft not to grab the Golf chassis, put a pretty body on it and sell it as an upmarket small coupe (they don't want to tread on the toes of the A5).
And they shift loads.
The point is generating income, when was the last time you saw a coupe that was successfully practical and appealing to the majority? Goes off to search classifieds

My other half drives the diesel version!
The diesel TT completely baffles me. I don't understand what it is for. It is a quattro to be fair mind you.
I live in the grim North, where snow and ice can hang around for a month at a time and I see Beemers and Mercedes abandoned on snowy cul-de-sacs for weeks at a time. Quattro is useful.
No requirement for 4 seats, but the occasional 2 rear ones are useful.
A hatchback is great for when we need a decent boot.
The interior is comfortable, well presented and a pleasant enough place to sit (A pillars are like most Audis and too big but otherwise..).
It swallows 500 mile round trips down South where I am originally from with ease, returning decent mpg.
It looks pleasant enough but also blends in the background enough to be parked in airport car parks etc without concern.
Yes, a Golf diesel would do these things too, but I don't see what there is to gain from one if the rear seats are superfluous.
The boots on these are surprisingly cavernous and there is enough room in the back for a shortarse like me. I was ready to get one of these for my wife but when told I would have to buy a circa £1800 option pack to get climate control I decided to look elsewhere. Its seems ridiculous to me that in 2014/15 that climate control is not standard on a £30K+ premium car.

Ermmm your in the wrong side of Scotland for the North Sea...should that not be Atlantic Ocean?
Good point, well made...Ermmm your in the wrong side of Scotland for the North Sea...should that not be Atlantic Ocean?
Looks more generic than ever. Certainly doesn't have any of the cute / fun factor from previous models, and I'm sure it's a pretty average car to drive around. I wonder if it will still be such a hit this time around, the more generic design loses some of the fashion factor I think. Makes it look like a poor man's R8.
In fairness you can't knock the performance at all - the TTS might not be the most dynamic or agile car around but it'll stick to the road like st to a blanket and it goes like stink.
Still boring though, if I had to have a three door Audi I'd take the A5, hardly a soul igniting alternative, but a better prospect IMO

Poor old Audi TT.
Regardless of series 1, 2 or 3 I think that its success has led to over-familiarity in the UK, and misguided contempt among those who, perhaps, have never lived with one.
I speak as one who ran a Series 2 2008 2.0T FSI in the States for three years.
I can safely say that the whole TT 'Salon mobile' issue never cropped up in the land of shonkily built V6/V8 wobblewagons.
Stylish design? Why the hate?
Practical? Not difficult to live with if you don't have kids.
Fit and finish? Excellent.
Performance? Budget 2.0 bit of a giggle with DSG.
FWD great in the snow, try a 1000 mile winter weekend trip in a rwd Bimmer.
I miss mine.
Cheers
Whatty.
