RE: Porsche 944 Turbo: PH Carpool
Discussion
Loving this enthusiasm for the 944, especially in the midst of the hysteria for the air cooled 911s. First Porsche was a square dash 1984 model 944, followed by a 1986 Turbo. After 5 years of enjoying the ooomph afforded by some modest mods, I decided to go to the dark side and bought a 1993 964 C2, just to see what the legend was all about. Had this for 5 years and sold it for what I paid (would make a profit now!) Never felt anywhere near as planted as a 944 on an unfamiliar road and not a patch on a 944 or 968 on a trip, or for getting the groceries, for that matter.. Next was a 1994 968 that was nice, but lacked that turbo go and was going to take a lot of $$ to make it go like it should, acceleration-wise. In January this year I was able to find a 1990 MO30 Turbo, one of the last 15 imported into Oz. The 968 is gone, sold for what I paid for it 2 years ago, and the 944T is now the subject of all my attention. I keep buying presents for it, like a Tial dual port wastegate and a Rogue A tune. Just love it...

Too late now as you've already bought the Rogue kit. but Id have suggested looking at an Augment Automotive replacement DME.
Very high resolution with MAP and Bluetooth and fully plug compatible.
I've been waiting around 2 years for some conclusive dyno results for this setup.Very high resolution with MAP and Bluetooth and fully plug compatible.

To me, trim doesn't really matter as these are £xxx cars and noone expects them to be nice.
On the subject of glass, I agree totally, and actually have a spare hatch (which I got for £20 from a scrappy, along with numerous "undeclared" items in the tool bag), lying around.
I don't understand why anyone who is paid decently would own such a cheap and disreputable car. My time is basically worthless so it's no problem for me to fix the same thing repeatedly.
So pinching stuff makes the parts you do pay for more of a bargain? On the subject of glass, I agree totally, and actually have a spare hatch (which I got for £20 from a scrappy, along with numerous "undeclared" items in the tool bag), lying around.

Plenty of people drive cars from this era simply because they like them, no matter what their salary.

Nonsense. The 968 Turbo died because it was massively overpriced, under-performed and no one bought it. There wasn't any conspiracy to curtail its development.

Makes you wonder why Porsche haven't done another front engine RWD car recently.
They have: the Panamera. For a while you could even get it with manual transmission and a normally aspirated V8. Though hardly anyone bought one in that configuration.
