I've got virtually zero interest in your so called "Supercars" but the FGT is the only car in this catagory that grabbed me, maybe because it looks more classic

I've had mine for over 6 years with zero issues, cheap servicing and good MPG

I love it and as for the chap who doesn't understand why someone wouldn't prefer a Mustang or a Viper.....You're bonkers

Would I have one over a SLR? Of course!

If someone wants to pay nearly 200k for a pastiche
A pastiche is when one artist imitates the work of another in a spirit of homage. For example, the David Brown Speedback is a pastiche of an Aston Martin DB5.

The Ford GT therefore cannot be described as a pastiche of the Ford GT40, since both works are by the same company.

And yes, I totally would have one, since I consider the outcomes of the engine specification (power, torque, responsiveness, music) more important than the inputs (number of cylinders, exclusivity).

The reason they aren't considered 'lottery win' cars is perhaps because they were always a direct rival on price to the Ferrari 360 and Lamborghini Gallardo, not the top-tier 'hypercars'. They're more of a dream car than a Gallardo, and the prices reflect this.

Glad it's not a lottery win car

That's what ruins a car when lottery winners and footballers like them

Thankfully they've been spared that image

If I were going to look at something agricultural, I'd look at the Ultima GTR720. Faster, much cheaper (half price?), but still with the big US engine, yet with UK chassis expertise. We all know how well it goes, having smashed the Top Gear lap record, even beating Michael Schumacher in his race spec, non road legal Ferrari.

And while this car is ok, it really doesnt beat the Ultima as far as I'm concerned, and doesnt even come close.

The car in the article is mine.

It is absolutely fantastic and a real wrench to sell it but I just bought a Carrera GT and I think I should try and be reasonable with my garage smile

There's a bit of uninformed tripe on this thread (what, on PH, surely not...) but also some good informed posts too.

It likes a drink but 80-90 miles on a tank, no. It sounds amazing. And it is bloody fast. I love the way it looks. And everywhere you go, people react so well. Doesn't divide attention like a Ferrari. It's a Ford.

Will be sorry to see it go to be honest.

Congrats on the Carrera GT Andrew, it belonged to a friend of mine, truly beautiful.
I was the same as yourself on selling the GT, after buying the LP640, only I had my GT for near 5 years. I do miss it.

Expensive, but superb in every way to my eyes - if I was properly loaded, I certainly would.

Red with the stripe, please!

My brother has an ultima GTR 620 and it's not agricultural, it's bleeding uncomfortable and in drivable on most UK roads. Totally different car that is built for track. (My Noble would give it a hammering their too by the way)

The GT is a perfectly comfortable car that could be used daily in comparison. More refined, more reliable, better engineering by far. Not your typical 'Yank Tank'

One of the very few that has never lost value which does make it seem pricey next to its competitors. 80-90 mile range is also a restriction but it is one gorgeous machine which by all accounts is worth every penny.
That stupid fuel consumption figure quoted on Top Gear was from track use, as I remember. Expect several times that in normal use.
Thanks for dispelling the myth. I stand corrected. Great to hear from owner's experiences. It is a very special car.

Quite simply the best super car ever produced, also the best looking end of. The fact it has never lost a penny is testament to that.

My favourite modern sports car by a long way, only the viper comes close for me.

I'll take mine in black, with black everything and a bit more black.
