Looks almost OEM, impressed with that.

I assume you can have google maps on it, is it compatible with voice commands?
I have google maps, but that requires an internet connection from my phone. I prefer TomTom as it is totally offline.

Voice commands - it works with the "OK google" thing pretty well.

You can get the free Nokia Here navigation app that allows you to download and store maps for offline use.

That was a great suggestion. This is by far the best offline navigation I've used - and its totally free. Highly recommend!

Finally took the plunge myself on this unit for the Honda CRV dog car which had an old OEM Alpine unit still in it with a faulty disc reader.

Price had gone up slightly on Ebay to £195 but still represents good value (currently £205). It shipped from Italy and took around 2 weeks to come. Needed a cheap ISO connector to hook up to the existing wiring, but apart from that it was plug and play. The fascia supplied is too big for the Honda so i'm going to have to look around for another solution, although i'm not too concerned at the moment as it's got to come back out to hook up the wireless reversing camera I picked up from Amazon.

First impressions are excellent - sound, bluetooth, Wifi & display all good. I haven't loaded the supplied Navigation software yet as i'll probably take some of the suggestions here on board instead. Time will tell I guess on the robustness of the android setup, i'm hoping it doesn't get bogged down too much like older android phones.

Probably would have preferred it without the branding on the front but not the end of the world

So they tether to the phone and your phone is connected to wifi? (I ask because Virgin doesn't permit tethering.)

Your phone wont be connected to wifi while you're travelling.

If you can connect your phone to wifi, you can connect the headunit to wifi.

You only need to tether to your phone where you have no wifi.

Oh yeah. biggrin So basically, not possible with Virgin then. (Unless they've changed their policy recently.)

Clear as mud...

Hi everyone

To clarify, we do not permit tethering on our network and this is covered on our Terms and Conditions.

We reserve the right to impose restrictions on your speeds if your data usage is excessive and not in keeping
with that reasonably expected of a private individual solely through their mobile device.

With this in mind it's much more likely that we would impose such restrictions to customers tethering on one of
our unlimited packages, but this doesn't expressly permit tethering if you're on a non-unlimited package.

With this in mind, should you wish to tether with your handset/device, we would recommend purchasing one of our
Tablet SIMs.

I hope this clears things up, but give us a shout if there's anything else we can help with.

Many thanks

I'd be tempted to get a MiFi thing and a data sim from giffgaff.

hehe It would have been easier just to write "No, we do not permit tethering. Please buy xyz."

Dont use a gifgaf sim, they use the o2 network and the 3g/4g coverage is really poor. (ex o2 customer of 20 years)

I've been on Giffgaff 4g for 6 months now and find the coverage is fine

Now, I wasn't expecting that.

Milton Keynes - poor reception
Yorkshire - good reception
