Still not convinced by any of the pictures. The Atom, well, it's an Atom but is till think some silver in there would set it off nicely. Even if it was just the chassis rails or the wheels.

Nice colour on the Elisé too but IMO better with silver wheels.

I would not have specced black on the GT3, but i took a cancelled order. Satin or matt is OK, but i don't understand gloss black wheels as it makes the tyres look brown when not clean!

They had their moment, but personally i think black and anthracite have been done to death. Silver wheels are surely due a comeback as the 'cool' option. Make the wheels look bigger, too...

Silver would get lost against the bare ally sides of mine I think:

I'd disagree personally - the black tyres and green arches would provide a break between the wheel and bodywork, and currently the wheel/tyre combo looks lost in the arches.

edit: I think a touch of green rim tape and maybe some painted calipers would look the business.

Agreed, the black tyre 'border' would make the silver wheels work.

Personally, I think silver wheels (or indeed silver anything else) look rubbish on just about all modern cars - it's just tasteless bling, no different to chrome wraps. I'd take black over silver on almost anything.

Each to their own, though.
Silver wheels have been around for, what, the last 50 years at least? They are hardly bling. Chrome wheels OTOH....

My e46 M3 came with anthracite 19" wheels, and against the Carbon Shwartz (sp?) paintwork, they looked terrible IMO.

I couldn't wait to get them back to silver.

It seems to be fashionable, but I've no idea why. It just looks really naff to me.

As I said, each to their own. The fact they're common is irrelevant, I think silver wheels look almost universally rubbish - I just don't like silver bits on modern cars. That doesn't mean I expect other people to share my opinion. smile

ETA: I like silver wires, just not silver alloys.

The orange calipers help a little but still better with silver IMO.

They looked cool when they were a new thing and still fine on supercars. I see plenty scrolling through Autotrader and they're just a sign saying "do not buy me - formely owned by a chav".

Garishly Painted calipers is another load of balls, especially yellow.

Silver wheels on white or very light coloured cars look a bit pants. Not a huge fan of black wheels, I think a dark gunmetal grey is a good compromise.

I have come to a conclusion. In my opinion anyway, no car is improved by painting the wheels black.
Judging from the photos on this thread you have come to the correct conclusion that it certainly doesn't improve any car by painting the wheels black thumbup

I would imagine if you are young then it would appeal to you but not for me...maybe I am just a boring old fart though!
