Dirty F430 Spider after a nice night run last week!

Black wheels + Carbon Ceramics are a great combo I think, looks a LOT better clean though.

Looks the nuts to me. Ferrari aren't really my thing (probably due to my never being likely to afford one) but that looks lovely and the black wheels add to the menace.

This thread should have a vote button... I'm still not clear what the general consensus is.

if general consensus is what you are looking for, you are on the wrong forum, and you can't expect to find it on page 15 of a thread on any forum

I love grey/anthracite wheels. Black (matte or gloss) aren't for me:

Anthracite was standard on the Goodwoods. I think the manufacturers get it right most of the time, it's usually the aftermarket blackness that I find so naff.

I think this looks great with black OEM wheels:

That looks brilliant!

Did they not also offer dark blue matching alloys also, or did I make that up?

They should've done the whole wheel black on the Goodwoods and done away with the silver lip. I have yet to see a single example of a black wheel with a silver lip that looks good on any car.

See? Terrible:

I had black wheels on my last car, these were the standard colour for Speedlines. However I did get them refurbished in gloss rather than satin. I can't stand satin or matt paint finishes on cars, buts that's for a thread.

I would not get a wheel colour changed to black that were not standard in black. Although I liked it on the Clio against the blue you did have to look close to see the design of the alloy.

Over the years I've had alloys in a few of the most used colours: Silver, Black, championship white and anthracite. IMHO anthracite or silver look the best and as said black do get lost if you are at a distance away.

I think it adds that little bit of contrast, which I personally think is needed in that area.

I at least like to see where the wheel ends and the tyre begins.

Oh my....What a gorgeous colour and the wheels actually help. I like the Gunmetal/Anthracite wheels on that but they're not black! Is that an official Porsche colour or a Respray?

When I saw your comment I immediately checked the address bar on my internet explorer worrying this was Mumsnet but it turns out I am on the right forum. A vote would clearly show what the majority of PHers (who took the vote) think.

Also, I think I have a different amount of comments per page as this thread is no-where near page 15 in my view.

According to the Car Configurator, they're OEM. It's actually the standard colour for the wheels - costs extra for silver.

And yes, a strong blue with grey wheels is my dream combination.

Quite agree, and the 'stealth' look - black rims on black cars - looks the worst.

Anthracite on the other hand looks great on any car cloud9

Clearly the world splits entirely into chavs who like black wheels and those who think the only thing to drive is a new silver German saloon on finance - that's how PH works.
LOL.. And replace wheel colour with Manual vs Dual Clutch, Audi vs BMW etc etc...

Black wheels indeed do in my opinion tend to look crap as per 90% of the pictures posted in this thread.

Seeing that lovely old Merc like that makes my teeth grate. Black wheels are so wrong on it.

90% is a bit strong. More like 99% .... wink

They cheapen and Chav-en cosmetically in 99% of examples to my old minces.

So the OP's question regarding all cars .... No, just nearly all and in most cases they do look worse. None look better, not even the 1%. Some black wheels look purposeful, never better.
