Partly I couldn't resist and partly, just want to re-emphasise the point others have made that comparisons with more rational options are not really the point of this car. I couldn't justify a biposto (I run a DD and a weekend/touring car) but I'm not the target market

Said mate is not a footballer or a poser. You won't find him outside any nightclub. He loves cars and loves driving. He races a Caterham so I'm sure he's familiar with Ginetta :-) He works hard for his money. He sold his 12C because it was too boring and easy to drive. It's certainly not a folly. It is however a toy. And it is indeed cool as fackbtw think it looks cool as fack and will no doubt go down well outside some pretentious West End nightclub.
Of course this will most likely primarily be bought by people with a number of cars and lots of money. But that doesn't mean they will be posers or people who aren't car lovers. You won't get a bigger petrolhead than the guy I am referring to who has a biposto on order. He also owns an F40 and a Dino. He tracks them and does European drives in them. People should be careful about jumping to conclusions and judging who will buy these cars before they have even appeared on the roads

I think you've misunderstood where I was coming from with this one. further, methinks it's wrong to think my statement implies that Footballers and Playboys aren't car enthusiasts ....for I have personally known this not to be true. I’m not jumping to conclusion...just something I know altittle about. I agree that folly was the wrong word to use.And in respect of the Ginetta I am a confirmed car enthusiast yet even I barely know what one is
Of course anyone can buy this car. but i clearly said who (I believe) this car is aimed at. tell me, if you were FIAT [marketing] what would you rather: your car papped with a socialite stepping out of it and into some members club/ restaurant in London? or your mate enjoying it on the open road, somewhere?...
that FIAT has a [500] showroom in Marylebone (on the door step of Mayfair) right next to Selfridges speaks volumes of what market they are targeting...
and btw let's not forget to differentiate who can buy something and who something is marketed at. Jay-Z and co. used to buy Cristal Champers. That was until the makers made very clear they were not it’s intended market.....
With all the "fastest abarth this" and "most powerful abarth that" in the press release article, is that including all the 60s abarth kitted FIATs, or just the new "abarth as a model spec" FIATs?
Also agree with the box question : why not fit a proper sequential box for that price?

I think it's a fantastic concept and if I had the money I to buy one I'd have one tomorrow! Certainly will be a toy for most owners because as we all know there are faster more capable cars out there for the money but to argue this is missing the whole point.
As said before by many others I agree that Abarth should be applauded for marketing such a product in the first place.
Anyone who is a true petrol head will certainly appreciate it for what it is i.e. a bonkers product

It's the most powerful road going production car Abarth have ever made.

I think this looks like a great idea. Firstly it is great piece of design, how many times have you walked through a car park and thought these cars are all so similar and boring. This has panache style and a cheeky glint in its eye. Secondly I applaud this form of mad science, without pushing the boundaries we will never create something new. I remember the cars of the 1990s they looked different sounded different drove differently and all had unique problems, styling and levels of danger. Lets see what they do next maybe they could fit a ferrari or a lamborghini power plant?
I am currently driving a Fiat 500 during the festive period, it is great fun, tardis like in the interior and most importantly it looks different.
