Lose the nasty front spoiler, clean up some of the fussy 60's detailing (e.g. The stainless trim strips down the sides, the overriders and the ugly filler cap) and it would be better. Hate the scoopy bonnet too, and the fact that it has another manufacturer's drivetrain. If it kept to Rover or MG engines it would be more "singery".
How about the s2k driveline? MG/Honda had enough of a tie up to make it work from an authenticity perspective...

So I've become a little obsessed with Singer 911, I love exactly what they are and everything about them, how everything has been 'reimagined', old skool motoring but essentially a brand new car.
Now I'm nowhere near a position to get one, but it got me thinking, could the business model work for other old cars, specifically old cars that rust? I watched something how they strip the 964 down and e-coat it to stop the rust, then basically cover it in carbon fibre bodywork.
So could you do it to a classic mini for instance? Or would you? Even if the 'business' side of things didn't stack up as it would be a very expensive little car.
What other cars do you think would be a good car to 'Singer'?
An obvious one would be BMW CS with modern running gear. Plenty of shells and parts. I've always wanted to 'resto-mod' a Range Rover Classic. It would look identical to an original outside, but I'd like to throw the modern colour & fabric palette at it. Modern running gear too, or maybe put in a Chevy engine as they did with the Overfinch.
One day...
Kingsly Cars have positioned themselves in thy space. Some nice products. One day...
I had this thought a few months ago, specifically about the E30M3.
There are enough options with the engine to give reliable power boosts up to 300hp. There are lots of options for suspension upgrades, brakes if you go to 17" wheels, quicker racks, diff locking and ratios, lightweight panels ect.
Plenty of character and pedigree.

Saw a split screen vw camper yesterday and it got me thinking......
Now They look superb, very retro, very Singer esque, but come on apart from the look they are stty horrible old things to drive, and no way worth what they cost these days.
So how about stripping something like a boxster, 997 etc down to its base chassis, caging it and then repanelling it as a 60s splittie with repro carbon fibre panels, so it looks like a split screen on the outside, but handles like a Porsche.
One rapid cool looking vehicle could be built.

There is a great youtube video of a van, similar in construction to what you describe, outbraking something tasty into a corner at the 'Ring and then blasting off into the distance Now They look superb, very retro, very Singer esque, but come on apart from the look they are stty horrible old things to drive, and no way worth what they cost these days.

Oh $deity yes. LOVE those things so bad. But what would you do with it? Apart from the engine it is pretty much perfect, isn't it? Perhaps an all aluminium V6 tuned for low down grunt, coupled to some kind of modernish semi-auto gearbox (absolutely must remain controllable via the dainty shifter mounted on top of the steering column)... but what else could be done? All carbon fibre bodywork perhaps?what about a RX8 engined RO80 ? would a subaru boxer engine fit (given that engine bay size and shape was the reason the ford |V4 was the prefered conventional engine swap when the engines went pop back i nthe day ?
i also agree withthe various BMW suggestions , and the prior art cited with regard to Jags...

Ha wow love it, imagine a singer version of that, subtle but rapid, kitted out with leather, period pieces, fuchs wheels and a roof rack! So funny to see it leaving the Porsche and Aston for dead bit like the XJ220 based Transit builders van

Not far off what you are asking for, remembered it in a magazine ages ago. As I recall it is pretty much a 993 chassis and floor with the Bus caged over the top.Now They look superb, very retro, very Singer esque, but come on apart from the look they are stty horrible old things to drive, and no way worth what they cost these days.
