I am a big fan of smoker barges.... In the last 4 years i have ran all of the following, and most of them as my daily drivers.

Some i lightly restored to get them looking tip top and others needed nothing but a good valet.

However, excluding fuel, but including everything else (including insurance and servicing) i have not lost a single penny in running costs or depreciation in the last 4 years - infact, i'm probable up a little bit.

In order (of ownership)..... And not including anything that owed me more than £2500 (not smokers) or any of the Convertibles i may have owned (Not barges)

Nice barging up there!

How about this for longevity? Almost 1million km.

@richard300

Take a seat at the top table sir.

Apart from a set of slightly chavvy 'rimz' on the E39, impeccable fleet.

I even liked the aftermarket veneer set on the W124.

Agreed - I particularly like the W124 (of course!) the XJR and the last jaguar. Lovely!

The W124 was a 300CE Coupe with a full 'Carat by Duchatelet' conversion.
this includes wheels, front and rear bumpers, rear spoiler, suspension and extended wood trims, instrument dials and leather work/steering wheel.

I bought the car off a chap that had owned her for about 10years, but it had sat on his driveway for 12months not doing anything.

The exterior didnt need much - It had green mold embedded in all the rubbers and some of the body cladding needed re-fitting. But essentially it was just a deep clean and a valet.
The biggest problem with the exterior was the centre caps (the two on the drivers side were missing, and are no longer available. E-bay didn't prove helpful, so i had substitutes made.

But the interior needed much more work - The leather was deeply dirty and had a tear and some deep splits, the veneers were fading, the electric seat switches were faulty along with the passenger window. But within a week i had turned the car around..... Including the seats.

When i bought her:

The stripping the interior:

Window repair and re building seat adjustment switch:

Finished:

Regarding the install on the 530i Sport.... When i bought the car, most of it had all been put back to standard, apart from the door cards that had the speakers changed to more 'low rent' items and an amp to power them.

My Friend Neil was responsible for the install when he owned the car a year or so before i bought it.
There is a link here to a build thread he did....

+1 glad to hear from you Ross. Hope you a speedy recovery. Hopefully catch you at an SS soon.

The CLK55 has gone, E36 M3 arrived!
What's it like ? Pics? And thumbup
Finally picked one up.

Boston Green '98 Evo Cabrio. 59,000m, years MOT, fresh out of an Insp II and New Vanos unit. (£1300 bill from Dr Vanos! eek )

Got a random email from a guy that really wanted the CLK and wanted to do a deal with his M3.

Bad point??

It was Cat C in 2000. Otherwise its a 8-10k car at a dealer. I've looked around it, underneath it, its been through BMW numerous times, previous owner had it through ML pre-purchase insp + there's not a spot of rust on it. So im satisfied I wont die in it. I did OK price wise IMO so I dont think i'll loose money if I can keep the mileage down + im going to try and track down some more history for the car.

ETA: its fricking awesome btw. love it.
Is it Boston or fern green? I had a 98 m3 cab in fern but with tan leather. Lovely car. Got stolen and written off about 6 years back.

Do these still have the same gearbox issue as the older A8 V8s? It looks like a very smart car for £4k and will go rather well too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A8-4-2-QUATTRO-AUTO...
