Always liked those. Was at the point of buying one when a B10 V8 Touring popped up for sale.....

The money that these can command is a little odd. In theory, surely they should never be pitched above a R129 SL taking the pecking order when new into account?

I know they're a true four seater but does that really matter now it's more likely to be a second or third car?
I guess it's all based on volume? There are just so many more R129s?

But here's a whole page off 220 Cabs all north of £10K:

Yes, I guess 'supply and demand' dictates the price of everything.

Below thread budget but this s124 (220) looks good value at £795...

Update:
Vendor sold it before my old man pulled up.

Cue Dad awkwardly paying £800 back into his bank account 25 minutes later.

Not angry or annoyed or peeved.... just really really sad. Bad end to a bad day.

Damm! frown gutting when that happens. Experienced the same thing a few weeks ago although this time it was a house we loved but just missed!

I think the fact that the car has poverty spec upholstery (its not even velour or sportline cloth) and is an early example (Not subject to the 1989 face lift) has to count against it from a value point of view.... Also, whilst i personally like the colour - Green does tend to polarise opinion.

I'd agree from a spec point of view. However it's a big attraction that this is a pre-facelift car (in my opinion!) - it looks great, and as with almost all mercs is the very best looking of all the subsequent variants.

This 129 500 SL caught my eye. Maybe a bargain for one prepared to travel to the Province. Looks good in anthracite metallic.

A fine car. Always wondered why some sellers seen keen to offload 'fast appreciating classics'. Surely just sell next year for more coin. confused

This is 5 minutes down the road from me. It's just been detailed, and I believe it's had some paint to the wings (the detailer does my cars). Seen it around a fair bit and looks tidy.

Harsh but fair. These Mercs weren't even on my radar I'm ashamed to say.

Still, I'm enjoying the E91 so that's something I suppose!

Oops: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C568839
I viewed a W126 500 SEC at this chaps place a few months ago, his descriptions are ok - not inaccurate but he perhaps doesn't list some cosmetic bits which I would list.

I suspect his stock (or some of it) comes from Amersham auction rooms as his pitch is literally opposite their premises. My FIL lives nearby and spotted the W126 some time ago as being advertised as going through the auction, it then showed up at the site opposite.

He does get some eclectic stock.

I'd love a C140 V12 and that one perhaps doesn't look bad value.
Both doors appear to have been painted the wrong colour, particularly the nearside, don't they?

Good luck radioman.

This 260 E we've had before but it looks like the vendor is getting rid of it at any price. Could be a bargain for someone, although it is not perfect:

Ahh balls. Was hoping he'd hold off until after Crimble . Just can't countenance another car right now
