I went to drive it yesterday morning, got to grips a little more with the idrive and have the car a good 40 minute run along the A5 and through a couple of towns.

The engine is great and it feels like you're doing half the speed that you really are. Comfort seats are lovely, but they don't appear to be heated which is strange - not sure if this was an additional option, although I'm not sure why someone would go for comfort seats and not have them heated.

With regards to faults; I found the following;
-there was a "driver restraint fault" warning on the dash - not sure what that is
-the exhaust was rattling a bit at idle when warm - just sounded like a loose shield
-there was very minor shimmy through the steering wheel when braking from 80-odd
-I stopped the car for a bit, when I re-started, I put it straight to navigation and it said there was no disk, this resolved itself after 15 seconds

That's about it, the only other comment is that it rides a bit firmer than I expected - it was by no means harsh, but I could feel the road a bit through the seat; not something I expected.

The dealer has offered to sort the exhaust and the fault and I've arranged for an inspection by a BMW indie on Monday. I'll take it from there.
Exhaust most likely to be the valve or whatever which makes it quieter around town. Relatively common they break. Simply unplug it and it shuts it up, it's what I did with mine some time ago now, and it doesn't make it much louder at all (if at all, to be honest!).

Ride quality..... I'm not sure what you're used to but the ride is really good in car (19s) and is amongst the best of any car I've been in so perhaps something is amiss with the suspension. Mine recently underwent a fairly substantial suspension overhaul and the ride quality has improved a bit. Though I'm still left with some mild shimmy which I'll get sorted at a later date!

No idea about the driver restraint warning....! I've had mine say no Sat-nav disc a couple of times but it soon sorts itself out.

You're right about their ability to hide the speed. A 745i will happily cruise at well North of 100 and make very light work of it. Or so I'm told.

God knows what a current 760Li is like.....

No price now on the first advert; can we assume the mark-up is 100%?

I think the original ad was £2499 IIRC?

Or more?

£2495.

I preferred it with clear fronts, unusually, it just makes the blue pop a bit more. Switching to ambers, but leaving clear side repeaters is all sorts of wrong though.

A pair of indicators and 3 bottles of Turtlewax Greasyshine 4000 and add 3 grand. Fair play if they get it, it does look a lovely car.

I googled the warning; seems a few people have experienced it and it's either a case of resetting it, or replacing the drivers seat mat/sensor.

I can't put my finger on the ride quality, could just be worn bushes, but I find it hard to tell in a car like that which kind of feels disconnected anyway.

I've spotted a 735Li which I like the look of too, it's the same price, but a year/10k miles younger and with an even better spec - just need to consider if I'll be happy with the lesser engine! Only real way to know will be to drive it I suppose!

Think it was £2750

Old colonel would have had another grand out of it, sure it would be £5950 with them

That's good you took it for a decent drive. Funny the seats are not heated I just assumed that was standard.

Regards the fault, "driver restraint fault" was the airbag light on too? I've never experienced this one, if the battery is low (car might have been sitting for a while) on charge it can throw some random errors. Ross has covered the others, the no disc is quite a common one.
Just one last point on the ride, it should be very comfortable, from the advert it looks as though its on 18" wheels? Never driven one on the 18's but I'd expect that to be even better than ride on the 19' car.

Providing the inspection goes ok it sounds like it could be a good buy.

Old Colonel gets some stick on here about pricing but he had an E91 330i with Birds suspension fitted and I thought it was very realistically priced compared to other E91s out there.

Later stuff, there's a much smaller pricing spectrum

That E34 is anywhere between £500 and £6000, just a question of who's selling it and the perspective

Love the carpets in this one.

But. Just how big would ones testicles have to be to rely on this day in day out? Is the 4Matic as explosive as people make out?

My problem isn't his pricing. It's the lack of honesty in his descriptions. In my case, "excellent rust free example" meant rusty arches. And don't get Flangio started on tales of imaginary service history...

No mention of service history, and deficient a couple of cylinders for many on here, but nice colour and very low miles.

It's not so much the borkability of the 4x4 system, but the unavailability of parts and the fact that only three people in the UK know how to take it apart and put it back together again.

Yeah, odd one that. Seller thinks it warrants its own picture anyway whatever it is.

You can't argue with £3k I suppose but if I can be prejudiced for a moment:

Non salubrious location
White lettering on the tyres (circa 1980's Jeep Wrangler)
Halfords mats
Northern Ireland registration

You pays your money...

not a fan of the tyre writing either. Also the wine cooler, is that fixed to the floor? Or is it an ashes urn?!

The wine chiller suggests it's been used for weddings.
