Indeed. Sadly, the FFRR the I was hoping I could use as a distraction for my wife is now not coming until the second week in January, so when she finds out about this when it turns up tomorrow, pots and pans are gonna fly! laugh

This 129 500 SL caught my eye. Maybe a bargain for one prepared to travel to the Province. Looks good in anthracite metallic.

Damn that looks nice in that colour!
Agreed. That looks exquisite.

The thread strikes again. I only saw it fairly late last night. I'd bought it by 9am this morning! hehe

That SL does look lovely by the way. Someone needs to get that bought. They are surely never going to be cheaper than they are right now.

Not sure if there are any other NI guys on here, but McCracken and I already have our 129s so I'm oot!

Anyway, it's only a short flight away for the rest of you- we've done the reverse many times and it only takes about 10 hours to get from the SL's location (L'derry) to London for example....

I look on a longer trip as a distinct advantage - a mini holiday away from home and a chance to do a shakedown run. The pleasingness of my barge purchases have been proportional to the distance travelled to get them. I should have known I wouldn't gel with the A8 - I didn't even need a flight to get to it.

Promise me: you'll tell me when you want to off load it/you won't mention you're selling until it's gone.
If it's anything like as good as I remember my old W140 S500 to be, I don't plan to part with it too soon, but I suppose you never know. I can be a tad impulsive at times!
That's quite some Christmas present to yourself!

As I was a new user my bid on the W124 was cancelled frown probably for the best!
I couldn't help noticing 0a that you'd bid quite early on. You do know you don't need to be the highest bidder all the way through and bid people up? Some people even use sniping software to sneak in with their best offer in the dying second of the auction so as not to show their hand and flush more money out of competing bidders. This is of course a bit rotten for the seller.

A lot of auctions state that new users with little feedback should make contact before bidding to prove they are genuine - probably doesn't hurt to build some rapport anyway with a big purchase like a car.

That's part of the fun. I did have an account ages ago with feedback but lost the details and have been buying recently without logging in. Contact first would negate some of the fun. I might see how it goes and then get in touch with the seller though. He may be spooked if I turn up in my green, 4 door W124 to see his green, 4 door W124 though...

Let's hope so.

Your car looks covetous in the extreme BTW. I'm feeling as if I have a cylinder deficit despite having 18 at my immediate disposal.

Very true Harry, as long as the vehicle doesn't let one down, of course - then it's more like 38 hours in my case!

It does look lovely though - I'l keep an eye on the auction, purely out of interest. And that other early 260E in Notts . . trying to ignore that one until the auction is over. If I did't have the SEC.

I was surprised to see this on the front of a local dealer pitch:

http://mmckelbrook.com/vehicle/name/mercedes-cl-cl...

I don't know anything about the dealer as I've not long lived in the area long but every time I've driven by in the past they haven't had anything like that on the forecourt! I saw it and was so surprised I slammed on and was nearly rear-ended! I've only driven past and seen the pictures in the attached link but thought it might be of interest?
