Brilliant Iantek - 140 600s in that colour are clearly like buses!

Pretty sure that R129sl had a look at that. Think it says a lot that it's still there....

Has it been on the thread before? I must've missed it. I don't have the funds or the stones for such a motor, plus another gold car may result in divorce!

Nothing...apart from it's pig ugly, will drink more fuel than the average £5K car buyer could possibly afford and that the driver's seat looks like it's been inhabited, for its 60-odd K miles, by a man wearing a sandpaper suit!

I was surprised to see this on the front of a local dealer pitch:

http://mmckelbrook.com/vehicle/name/mercedes-cl-cl...

I don't know anything about the dealer as I've not long lived in the area long but every time I've driven by in the past they haven't had anything like that on the forecourt! I saw it and was so surprised I slammed on and was nearly rear-ended! I've only driven past and seen the pictures in the attached link but thought it might be of interest?
I couldn't be bothered to go and look, to be honest. Shortage of funds has been the story of this last year. Anyway, it was up for sale in the summer and we referred to it in either Vol 6 or Vol 7. If you have the time to check it out, I'd be interested to hear an honest appraisal.

Edit: the driver's seat bolster looks bad compared with Slippery's; and is that a dent in the boot lid? Finally, those photos were taken last winter.

Okay the driver's seat does look a little worn. But these new fangled (bangled) BMWs wear quicker don't they.

Derin surely you need this in your life: individual ceiling mounted knobs set in that fuzzy stuff:

Though there does seem to be some kind of restraint in the back:

It's a 445 bhp limo which is in budget with a haggle - something has to give laugh

Moderation of the volume and temperature of the air blowing onto one's face I would imagine - vitally important.

I've owned an AUC 745i before and I have to say things can get expensive if it goes wrong and in my case went wrong pretty often. The electronic gadgetry is pretty fragile. Sold mine before warranty ran out so just under a year.

Other than that it's a very comfy barge.

The interior does look very worn, both the leather and some buttons. My e65 had done 40,000 more miles than that when I sold it and it was nothing like that. Also the part service history puts me off.

I wonder if it's just a bit dirty - my merc looked pretty bad but came up very nice indeed with a valet (though it had done almost 140k miles, not the 60 something this BMW has done).

Perhaps one to look at - it's apparently 4 miles away from where I am at the moment (though I am heading away to see family at the end of the week) so happy to pop and take a look should anyone want an opinion.

My spidey senses are tingling over that one. It wouldn't give me a sleepless night like the one I've just bought gave me last night.

My brother used to have a 740iL. It was a later model than this - one of the face lifted ones. It was pretty robust and hid its miles well. He didn't have any trouble with it. He sold it at IIRC 50-odd thousand miles - the seats didn't look worn at all.

It was a good car; very reliable. The only problem was it really had a serious thirst. He never bettered 18mpg - and he had the thing from new, so presumably there was nothing wrong with it. It used a lot more petrol than the X350 Daimler Super V8 it replaced (which averaged 22-ish) or the X351 Jaguar Super Sport which has replaced it. The current supercharged Jaguar XJ is remarkably economical; he often sees 24mpg.

You should get onto that barge thread and buy a V12 guzzler with that attitude!

It has a stand alone condenser and fan in the boot that does the upper rear air con and the fridge between the rear seats. It's a Hella unit.
