Doesn't sound like a bad purchase, other normal considerations aside. It's obviously been attacked with a fair amount of cash to sort the engine out. biggrin
It does look good, but shouldn't an early car like that have 2 tone bumpers/cladding?

Guys - can we please keep this thread to the nature of the title - ie metal priced up to £5k. Although a little bit over OK to allow for the haggle factor.

Any daft posts will earn a perma-ban from the thread.

Nothing says good buy like a slightly broken car that used to be more broken.
After you. No, no I insist.
That's one of those ads where they should just write 'Mercedes 600, blue, MOT'.

Seems a bit drastic, no?

This thread has always been fairly good at self-regulating, I shan't post another Vectra for instance. The occasional off-piste jaunt keeps it ticking along.

Passat W8, only one I can see on sale anywhere in the country, and only 30 miles from me:

Less everything than a 540i, but miles more expensive to run and not as nice to drive.

I say, err, you first.

They have a lot of appeal as a Q-car though. It just looks like a normal Passat to me, everyone will think it's a 1.9TDi.

Yeah, I've kind of gone off it already too. It doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much fun as it looks on paper.

This auction is about to end but it's the nicest looking C-Class I've seen in a while. From our friend in north London. Sensible and well-specced (Elegance, electric heated leather, COMAND) mini-barge for someone.

The 188k on this wouldn't bother me much... £4100. Itchy finger!

But even more individual than a Citroen C6, no? And better in the snow than the BMW.

A bit over budget at £5995, wrong wheels (and horrendous wheel) but could be a good un:

Likewise at £5650 and with those wheels and steering wheel but...

I, for one, don´t mind seeing interesting cars on this thread that come in slightly over budget.

It´s the comments by the regular posters that are as amusing and interesting as the cars posted themselves.

I suspect most of their owners wished they were a 1.9 TDi.

Given we are now on volume 8 (I don't know how long since vol 1, page1 appeared) is an inflationary uplift on 1-5 about due?
