A bit over budget at £5995, wrong wheels (and horrendous wheel) but could be a good un:

Likewise at £5650 and with those wheels and steering wheel but...http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C588235#

Happy to report I'm now the owner of a nice r129, possibly picked the worse day ever to pick a car like that up, the weather was awful. However I'd agreed with the seller that today was the day, so off we went. In the back of my mind I'd concerns about going to check it over in the rain as it can hide a lot of flaws in paintwork etc. Also getting to see the roof in operation. I needn't have worried, the seller had the car bone dry with the roof off in a nice big garage. The car was better than described, massive history file detailing everything done. Really good bloke to deal with, even ended up buying the hard top stand. All in a great buying experience. The 300 -24 seems a decent match for the car, very characterful making a lovely noise, love the driving position, wife loves it even more! Now sitting with a glass of red reading though the service history

Yeah, I've kind of gone off it already too. It doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much fun as it looks on paper.
And it looks pretty slow and thirsty on paper. mccrackenj said:

I'm sure that's the same car I enquires about last time it was for sale, maybe a bit over a year ago? In South Yorkshire?I'm very interested indeed, but I've also been pondering the Daniel Curnock 260. Anyone had any dealings with him?

R129 guys - Apologies for the small and poor photo but any idea what this is? It looks like an aftermarket dial but I've noticed it on two or more SLs recently and they are identical which leads me to believe it's an official Mercedes option but I can find nothing about it on the internet.
A large photo I found, but since been unable to find again, showed the numbers on the gauge which suggested it a oil temperature gauge. Was this ever an option or is this a tacky aftermarket fit and botch of the centre console?

Far too many scuffs and scratches to be worth that imo, although £500 to a repair and you would have a very nice car indeed. I suppose a rust-free base is a great start for a keeper too. http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/107559-very-low-mile...

The '63 engined cars are amusing are they not? The S I drove yesterday felt its weight (and price) but it was very amusing nonetheless!
I love the noise but can't help but feel it's a bit fake/created compared, say, to the older AMG engines or the V10 M engine.
There absolutely marvellous. I went in a CL63 a while ago, as well as an E63 and the engine is wonderful. I do prefer the character of the 6.2 over the 5.5 biturbo though. I love the noise but can't help but feel it's a bit fake/created compared, say, to the older AMG engines or the V10 M engine.

Passat W8, only one I can see on sale anywhere in the country, and only 30 miles from me:

What say you, sirs?
I've seen four W8 Passat's in Auckland in the three weeks I've been here. By contrast, I don't think I've seen four in the UK in the twelve years or so since they were launched! http://www.amberswoodmotors.co.uk/used/volkswagen/...

Not sure if this has been up here yet. Lovely-looking 628 and a great ad, seems an attractive deal at £3,500.

Relating to earlier comments about old Volvos - my word, cars from this era had some SERIOUS glazed real-estate. This is halfway to a Popemobile! Love it.
