Not sure if leaving it for a year is good!? 6 months I'll get matt to drive it, much longer it seems huge expense t9bjust keep it ticking over. Thoughts?
Can't see why parking it up is an issue. Farmers manage to leave £250,000 combines parked up for 10 months of the year and they're more complicated than an E65 these days.
I can't see why it would harm the car either. My old Jaguar was off the road for a couple of years while I had it repaired/generally procrastinated and it didn't do it any harm. I changed the oil etc. before it was parked up - but nothing more. It was parked inside though. Do you have a garage - or will it be parked outside?

Personally I would be tempted to keep the car if you can garage it. You have spent quite a bit of time, effort and money on it; there are very few cars about at thread money which have had such work done - and virtually all cars you see will need it.

Thanks r129 - just a pioneer head unit, nothing special. General audio is a later project!

This sounds rather interesting: www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C569882# £1,999

Sadly her husband passed shortly after purchase so absolutely EVERYTHING was done by the supplying dealer, even wiper blade replacement, bless her!!"

This is in superb condition - but whatever possessed the seller to paint the centre of the hubcaps black? And why-oh-why do people put 'lawn stripes' in their carpets with a vacuum cleaner? I'm not sure which looks more daft!

Lovely car though.

My thoughts too really. I'll keep matt running it for a few more weeks and see why happens.

I left a smart roadster on the drive for the best part of 5 years, required a new battery, pads & disks & a service and it ran fine, its now done another 5K miles without a single problem, so I can't imagine 6 months is going to do much harm.

Ross, keep the car. Lots of studies have shown that for folks who are poorly, a goal is the way to make the healing process shorter and more effective. Set yourself a challenge that you will be back driving the car in X months and go for it. You don't want the car to be sat there for ages? Well shorten your healing time, you have the power to do that, so JFDI!

We all look forward to you posting a pic of you in the car with a big fat grin on your face!

/hugs

Makes me feel like owning another 190. Ultra-low spec and colour combo appeal too!

All the best for a speedy recovery Ross.

I would say keep the car, 6 months or so off the road shouldn't be a problem, especially if you have a garage.

Thanks chaps. Food for thought! I do want to keep the car, but running it for a year with inaur, Tax, mot, and then a service etc you're looking at well over £1k before it moves. My thoughts were if it doesn't move for a year it won't cost me £1k or more to get it working properly! Especially if I hook it up to a battery charger once a week.

Sadly, no garage.... So what do we think?

Car cover, SORN, laid up ins and battery charger on external cable. Use this time to keep it clean feed the leather etc. smile You can move it forward and back a bit just to keep the tyres from flat spotting too.

Oh and if you have a tarmac driveway make sure you shift it about side to side too. Brunhilda's electrical glitch took 5 months to fix, in that time being a big lass she left 4 dents in the drive! hehe

I know what you mean. I have no logical need for this and the engine would probably irritate. I just have that irrational want to possess it though!

Car cover and get someone to drive it once in a while. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

I love it too, but the colour is a complete no-no for me.

After nearly 10 years living in Germany, I could live with Taxi-spec, but absolutely not Taxi-colour. [Although it's miles better than white.]

A long lost geriatric relative turned up to a funeral in a (battered to hell) cream 190 just like that last year.
