I think I may have a barge itch to scratch in approximately 14 months, so checking in early in the name of "research".
I did this about 4 volumes back and to give you fair warning it will end up with a V12 on your drive, a smile on your face...... and evil eyes from your wife/girlfriend/partner/significant other.edo said:

Probably far too expensive, but a rather nice looking car:

I had always thought that this generation of A6/S6 was the best looking. It's that curved top over the bootlid, and the fact it's not all creases and acute angles like a newer A6. The interior looks in good shape apart from that dodgy aftermarket media device in the centre console. The Recaro seats are wonderful, the engine is beautifully refined. About the only weak link will be the electronics and the gearbox. Looking back at the glossy wood trim and the thick carpets takes me back to my old A8. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

How much power does that kick out, it doesn't say in the ad, I'm guessing a lot.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

One of the advert photos seems to show a little colour difference to the rest of the body, age? Accident? Rincewind209 said:

Agree with you about this shape of A6. However, as well as the fruit machine this example has also got tints and has been de-badged. Never a good sign. (Apols to 0a - I'm just very picky!)

Not the right engine or gearbox, but an 'interesting' colour. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-Citroen-C6-2-2HDi-L...

Now, this is a dud! That S6 looked quite nice on my phone but on closer inspection, yes, it's got a few issues. Like the bottom half of the tail end being a different colour to the rest of the car!Not the right engine or gearbox, but an 'interesting' colour. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-Citroen-C6-2-2HDi-L...
Anyway, I digress, on to the C6. The colour is just dreadful. Or rather, the effect of the colour is. It stops the C6 looking like the graceful product of a smart designer and more like a leaden turd. Black, silver and dark blue all suit the C6 but this shade does not. On top of that, the dreadful engine and manual gearbox. No thanks!
I typically hate diesels though I gather the 2.7HDi in the C6 is particularly 'nice' for a diesel though it's thirsty...which would seem to scupper it's appeal. It's the same engine as appeared in the Jaguar S-Type and the XJ 2.7 TDVi, where it was generally well received to drive but less so to fettle and fix. Still, it's very much something I should have liked to have seen more of - if you're going to do a dreadful diesel, at least give it a couple of extra cylinders to mask the rough drone, a couple of turbos to try and eliminate the flatness in rev range and an autobox to do the chopping and changing required.
In terms of car for your cash, this is particularly impressive. The AMG badge needs prised off but other than that, there are worse ways to drop £2500. Remember, that back when these were new and being churned out with six figure price tags, that would have bought you a couple of nice suburban semi-detached houses.

Or you could hand your 3 bags over for ye olde Monza..

Same screen price as that S500. 2 door coupes, but that's about the only similarity. What would you choose? Quite a mix of Bork potential v simplicity? Running costs? Or stretch a bit for that S6?
Decisions, decisions...
