Nice project for someone.
Seen it advertised before somewhere - can't quite remember where and when though
It used to belong to Nikrod, no?

Thanks for this. I had a XJ40 once, an early Sovereign 3.6, and even though it was like a brown colander and cost me £205, it was marvellous. I think I really want a XJ81 but I suppose a series III is the more classic buy. In my mind, the choice is between a series III and a RR Shadow.

The Silver Shadow II is a wonderful thing.

Tidy-looking and well-specced C43 AMG wagon here. Coloured roof and wheels are a bit gash, mind.

Agreed on the roof but I like the wheels. Can't see a price either, not that I'm buying mind you.

edit: says open to offers

Looks like it could make a decent car.
Good spot. That could be a decent start-point for someone looking for cheap-ish entry.

There are two on AT, this being one of them. This is up for 5200 ish, the other 4995.

I don't mind the roof, and the gearbox service is a wise move in these cars.

I can't help thinking these Mercedes SLs must rise in price. They seem very cheap to me - at least the good ones which aren't moneypits, anyway!
Having just bought one I obviously would think this anyway, but one of the reasons I took the plunge now (having dithered for a couple of years) is that I think good solid un-mucked-about-with cars, especially pre facelift cars, bottomed out some time ago and have been gradually easing up as they have become scarcer. There are still a lot around that have fallen into the hands of people who can't afford to, or can't be bothered to, maintain them properly. Those are the ones that need avoiding.

No not my one although it is identical apart from the mileage. I'd suggest the pricing is too low.

I posted it a week or so back from LFGSS if that's what you mean. Surprised it's still about at that money.

Well done. You have obviously progressed to advanced level barging if you can say "no" despite having the readies there. Was it a shed?
What put you off?
Every panel had bubbling, the interior was really scruffy. The horn was controlled by an override switch. I can go on...!

Where have all the £5k SL500s gone? Did you lot buy them all up? I need to buy a car in the next few weeks and I'm thinking V8 and not too big, current thinking is SL500 or C43.

210k miles and £3,150, probably a bit too leggy for me http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

£40k of receipts though!

Does anyone fancy taking a look at this for me?!

Sounds like a shed. Onwards and upwards!

Really liking the C43, if I needed another car I think I'd buy it.

Suppose you want to avoid a 300?

Liking that XJ12.
What a lovely looking car. I want an upgrade on the 300 engine in my W124 though frown

What's LFGSS?
London fixed gear and single speed. A very amusing bike and bike-culture site, I didn't know they had car classifieds.

Amazing how cheap these are compared to their cabriolet and coupe brethren. Prefer it on the normal hubcaps/ whitewalls over the pentas though.

Any thoughts on this SL 500: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

It appears not to have a radio?!
